Someone who has a house near the marina received by certified mail this notification of the Borough’s pending application with DEP to modify the existing CAFRA marina construction permit from 2010.

This goes directly back to the mayor and council and there is no excuse for this. The residents and tax payers being notified after the fact is a complete joke. Also, the whole town should be notified. Typical Doherty. Wake up people.
Isn’t doing construction without a valid permit illegal???

I think residents or any other party have 30 days from the date of application to provide information to the DEP for consideration of their review. Now is your chance people. Do it.
The level of disgusting actions of Colleen and Matt is just unbelievable. Pathetic.
I’m interested in the details here .. including the latest draft of the proposed Marina/Maclearie changes. The Maser letter indicates copies are available, but does require an OPRA process, or should that be available to all residents automatically?
The letter says anyone can go to Borough Hall and look at them.
They must be available for review at Boro Hall without an OPRA request.
For Readers and residents interested:Except for Maclearie Park, Most of what is now to ne an amended CAFRA PERMIT is two years after
the following Notrices of Violation (2014 ) were charged against Belmar due to the borough NOT following the CAFRA permitted plans 2010.
1. Expanded “tiki” bar on 9th Ave. Pier
2. Miniature Golf
3. K-Street Boat Trailer Parking area not
grass pavers. AND
Violations 2015 to present:
4. Main Marina Bldg. with Restaurant
5. Kyack/Canoe Storage Racks, K Street.
6. New Park Entrance, 2 Story Sailing
Building and Drive at L-Street in Riparian Zone- Maclearie Park.

How many times over that due to underground springs Rhode Point areas flood during heavy rains often closing RT 35? How will impervious paving worsen the existing problems and cause further runoff into the Shark River. How will parking thousands of cars (leaking oil) into the parking lot at L street beach improve bathing conditions in the Shark River?
The area under 9th Ave and also the marina is contaminated and has not been remediated. Check the records.
How dare you all get in the way of Mayor Matts plan to have Chef international take over the town and all who eat and drink in it
Boardwalk signs went up today. PDW had 4 guys hanging them. Way over staffed. They would hang one sign and then mosey down the boardwalk to hang the next one. I bet each of those guys will put in over time this week too. PDW does a lot of good things, but they waste a lot of money too, especially in staffing. Town might as well hang a sign that says “closed this year” with all the construction. How much are we paying in bathroom attendant fees? Why do we have full time attendants now? Maybe a couple staff who float to check all the stations would make more budget sense, but then Matt could not get buy those votes.
#10 I guess you never made a pit stop, the women’s rooms are the worse, not a fun job at all.
#15 – Sir, I mean no one any disrespect, but we’re talking DPW here. They do the things they’re geared up to do, but nothing more. DPW’s anywhere only do “housecleaning” type work, anything beyond that is far beyond their abilities. Otherwise, they’d be working for private enterprise.

#17 they are not “Unskilled workers”and they get pretty good pay with benefits and pensions. But the point is the town over staffs many tasks and that is expensive.
Forgiveness before “permission”? It would be expensive to undo what was done, but why not stop the transgressions before they go further? A hard lesson, but necessary for arrogant scofflaws. Cease and desist! I will believe it when I see it. Who is in cahoots with whom?

I’m sure some of the letters to the editor of the coast star are not written by the person who is listed. I mean, have you ever had a conversation with some of them? Hard to imagine that a person’s vocabulary could improve so much in writing. How about someone be a ghost writer for those who got the letter? Offer to send it on their behalf and sign their name.
It only cost 35k for palm trees. Lets buy new ones every year.
