Wasn’t that the Barclay’s license? I’d rather they have it than D’Jais.
Doherty would not allow any of the restrictions on the Barclay license to be lifted before they went bankrupt. As soon as they sold it to D’Jais, all of those restrictions disappeared. I’m sure 10th ave won’t be held to those restrictions either, but I wanted to point out more corrupt behavior by Mayor Doherty picking and choosing who gets favors by who he likes, not by following the law.
When did council vote on lifting those restrictions? I remember the Mayor pushing for the Vitas (owners of the Barclay) to be able to have an unrestricted license, but then had to recuse himself (under our pay to play rules). The council who voted no was Jennifer, Brian, Claire, Richard Wright and Jim Bean, correct?
How and when did it get switched to an unrestricted license?
Hey if Brian wants to buy a year round license then good for him , can’t hate on a guy for putting money into his business. Now in regards to the town allowing Bands to play on a public sidewalk or allowing bars to be set up in a public parking lot that’s on the town to Inforce if they are going to look the other way it’s on the town not 10th Ave.
well i guess 10th Ave will be serving now for Parade Day….and djais won’t
I never voted on removing restrictions. I don’t even remember if it came up with me on Council.
I did ask about what happens to the restrictions at the meeting that the license was transferred and nobody would give me a answer.
Said they didn’t know.
I am all for a restaurant in town having the year round license. I think Brian is a responsible business owner, that is only doing what the town is allowing! Saying 10th Ave breaks the rules, especially when a councilman is in the band breaking said rules, is like blaming a baby for acting up. The town is responsible for ordinances being followed, Brian is responsible for making money for his business. Frank and Co at D’Jais know a year round at D’Jais, without changing their business model, would actually cost them money.
After the noticed deal is rubber stamped …. Irish Curse would own 2 liquor licenses …. the pocketed seasonal license will probably find its way to Ocean Ave …. for D’Jais North.
I’m happy for 10th Ave. Love that indoor bar in winter (and summer too).
Just curious how it happened.
I prefer restaurants without liquor licenses. Would rather BMOB. That’s because I’m cheap.
Swap plus cash deal to Djais, Djais now owns 2 summer licenses.
That Ocean Avenue beer garden that the mayor mentioned to the Wall Street Journal a couple of years or so ago has not appeared – yet.
Check out the landlocked Playa bowls/waffle coffee bar building deal with 711. Djais north? Don’t say you weren’t warned at the very least.
A couple of Doherty’s biggest fans and political supporters live right near there. Nah, couldn’t happen THERE…
Ha. Ha, ha, all the way to the bank says he.
Why not La Dolce Vita? Seems a better location for a full year’s license. 10th Ave will just cause more problems…
Nightclub nightmares coming to your backyard. Just watch. Easy to take uber to your backyard 12 months out of the year.
We don’t go to the Burrito much (never during the summer season), but when we do, I like to have a beer. So now we’ll probably go a bit more.
#13,#14,15 I guess I will need to start going to the planning and zoning board meetings, I have also told the mayor for years how strongly I and my neighbors would oppose another bar on Ocean Ave. Liqueur licenses belong in the downtown area not in residential areas. The 1980’s are long over.
