So. Let’s see if I can get this straight. The September 1 2015 meeting added to the agenda at the last minute the striking of language in the play to pay ordinance. That was the Maclearie Park fiasco meeting where Mayor left right before public discussion and Jennifer was not present. Since everyone was so upset about Maclearie they went very long and the three remaining council decided to postpone play to pay discussion.
Jennifer takes 1000 from this Frank Raia on September 14th.
September 15 meeting Dorehty decides to table play to pay because it was too late to effect this election.
Had all gone according to plan the changes pay to play would have happened, the donation could have been made and Jennifer would have been allowed to vote on matters concerning Mr Raia.
Like I commented on this blog on September 18th my fear was about developers being able to influence our officials. With Dave’s reporting of sequence of events in this post, it seems my fears were justified.
Keep an eye out after the election for renewed efforts to change pay to play!!!

Are we really going to sit back and allow the same self-serving governance to continue in Belmar, or will we begin to create a town Administration that will be responsive to, and cognizant of the needs, concerns and worth of all residents. We can make a change by replacing each of our elected officials, one person at a time, with individuals who have the intelligence, the will, and the ethical values to serve Belmar, not use it.

So this Raia guy donates to Belmar and just coincidentally received a special zoning change for his Belmar residence AND coincidentally has a long supportive financial history with the Mayor of Hoboken Dawn Zimmer. Isn’t Zimmer the one that accused Dept. of Consumer Affairs Director Richard Constable of saying Hoboken’s FEMA funds were being held as she would not approve a commercial project. Then Doherty testified on this allegation that he was sitting next to Director Constable when this statement was said at a political function stating he did not hear Constable say anything to Zimmer. But then he flipped and said that Zimmer could have heard something… but he couldn’t really hear… Doherty’s statement was so conflicting he was interviewed twice regarding it.

I think removing the mayor is the first step. The whole (council and administration) body is rotten from the top down – remove the head first. Then we have Mayor Brian to fill in. He at least appears to listen to the people.
