I had recently been complaining that in the last election the Democrats had not been filing the state’s R-1 forms and Thursday evening I received an email from Cheryl Russo letting me know that she and Maggie McBride’s campaign did not reach the spending threshold that would trigger the requirement to file the R-1 form. I located the relevant text from the state’s compliance manual:
In all the years I’ve been reporting on campaign finances here in Belmar this is the first time that a Democrat or Republican campaign hasn’t reached the threshold for filing the R-1 but I do wish to apologize to Ms. Russo and Ms. McBride for reporting here that they were not in compliance and also for a comment I made on the Borough’s Facebook page about it.

It would be nice if you put “Apologies” in the title instead of at the end. Those women were def prejudged as suspect for not following procedures based on your conclusion. Certainly it was not a typical situation, but they were at least following the law and NOT taking illegal contributions, but working hard to build up their accounts properly.
I agree with ANON.. lots of assumptions made on this page and hateful things said about people, fellow citizens just because it fits the narrative.
#2 – Disagree. This page allows everyone to express their opinions and ideas. You might not always agree with the dialogue, but you can defend your views – just like everybody else.
