8th Ave Speed Out

Reader has used up eight lives, fears for ninth:

8th Avenue Belmar Death Trap for Pedestrians
Drivers speeding off Rte 35 onto 8th Ave….speeding down 8th Ave. to Rte 35.
99% of drivers do not stop for pedestrians. Drivers that stop are tailgated..the cars behind them swerve to pass them, narrowly missing the pedestrian. This situation is getting worse with 3 bars (Anchor, Beach Haus, and Burritos) within half a block. Patrons from 9th Ave Pier spilling over to 8th Ave. There is not enough parking! Presently Belmar Plaza Parking lot is under construction. There is a huge sign at the 8th Ave entrance directing drivers to use the 10th Avenue entrance. Drivers ignore the sign. Now there are drivers using the parking lot between 10th and 8th Ave as a short cut …speeding up to 25 mph in a very congested space with drivers looking for a place to park and pedestrians crossing the lot.
I have used up all my”lives”. Why aren’t the police enforcing traffic and speeding laws on 8th Ave???? I have been asking for enforcement for two years from the boro, police department, Bike and Pedestrian Committee. You know what makes this shameful….the senior building is located in the middle of this death trap. There are 4 seniors who use motorize chairs that cross 8th Ave.in front of the senior building. Many other pedestrians cross here as well.
All lives matter. ENFORCE THE TRAFFIC LAWS NOW before a pedestrian is crtically injured or killed.

The Belmar Police are overtaxed dealing with the drunks in Lake Como thanks to your Mayor Lawless Matt. Great deal Matt and council. NOT. Vote them ALL out, one by one, two by two. Vote in two WATCHDOGS and end this insanity.
