Hines is president of Belmar First Aid, was the head of the water company, and is very active in the autism awareness community, bringing the Surfers Healing event to Belmar every year and raising tons of money for the cause.  A solid oak of a man, he spent his entire career serving the people here and is one of the most loved people in Belmar.  Not only that, he’s even better looking in person than he appears in those pictures.  Anyone out there know why he’s leaving?

Here’s the thing, though.  Look what’s happening the very same evening:

This is a real slap to Hines, the Keefe and Sperber families, Pat Roddy and Danny White but especially to Hines who has done so much for this town.  Really both events deserve to have the mayor there the whole time and I’m certain that there are many people who would have attended both of them if they weren’t being held on the same night .  And it’s definitely going to cut into revenues at both events, which is a real shame.

This is a true disgrace and insult to these people! Each event really deserves its own night. Perhaps it was planned this way so the “mayor” wouldn’t have to be completely present for either occasion. As a matter of fact, on facebook he committed to attending the fund raiser-does he even plan on honoring Fran for 5 minutes? Fran has earned respect and deserves the best of sendoffs! The borough website has plenty of mention about the “mayor’s” pet project-Home by Summer as well as a bunch of upcoming fundraisers for it, but not one mention of Fran’s retirement. Check belmarview.com and you’ll find the same thing. In fact, the top billing there is still about the election. I sure hope the borough rectifies this situation with some dignity and expedience!

Here’s another example of the admin of this site’s hyprocrisy….earlier this month he posted “I feel bad for these families but I won’t be contributing to this fund.” going on to insinuate as if the money may be used for nefarious purposes or get misused. BUT, in this post about scheduling, he says he really feels it’s a shame that this may cut into the ability to fund raise for the two families…looks like you are trying to have it both ways Dave….either you support the cause or you don’t, which is it? FOS as usual and proof that you will do anything to snipe at whatever the mayor or council tries to do…fast to criticize and make up wild rumors as if they are fact-based but never give credit for something positive is your MO.
