Claire Deicke, please give your input on this article. You are the leader of the Democrats in Belmar and practice the identical tactic. Please don’t post to just change the subject as you always do. We are looking for an honest answer.

#1-The practice described in the article is a common one-since mail-ins aren’t limited to shut-ins only….if a law is enacted prohibiting/limiting the practice, then so be it-it is what it is…..what’s your point? Putting me on the spot? Many towns have practiced what’s being described in this article… all will have to abide by the law prohibiting the practice if enacted..but I’m going to pivot and change the subject…..-just as you stated..don’t wish to disappoint you….I’m pulling for a law (on a national level)that will prohibit people using anonimity in a cowardly way-just as you do-while your remarks aren’t terribly offensive, many have been in the past….I’m referencing recent articles in both the APP and NY Times which tell of threatening, humiliating, obscene remarks posted by students about fellow students and instructors …..one woman professor is seeking legal action due to comments made about her (anonmously) (not in the the state of NJ)..while the posts on this blog are mild by comparision….(although some of the past I consider to be offensive)…..I know-first amendment rights, etc…….but when speech is used in such a vile manner, then something has to be done-I was told that freedom of expression isn’t just about nice remarks…everyone should be able to post whatever they wish…..but perhaps in the future there will be a law against cowardly people who hide behind fake names-but I’m not too off target, am I? We’re both talking about laws we hope better the lives of Americans, whether it be voters or commenters….(with regard to changing the subject)
Knowing Tom Burke, he will side with Mayor Doherty and write on his facebook page that Belmar residents should be allowed to have D’Jais employees help the 200+ bed ridden so called citizens vote by authorized messenger. When Bean and Seebeck tried to stop this, Burke went after them like a true weak kneed RINO. Now that the State is making noise, lets see if he flip flops or stand his ground with the corrupt mayor again. Belmar needs leadership bad.
I always wondered if only misguided people join the Democrat party, or if normal people join the Democrat party and then become misguided. I now know it’s the latter. Claire, you would never have taken this stance 7 years ago when you started. You are actually defending the corruption, explaining it away by saying the unintentional loophole is legal.
Claire, the party you’re in charge of actually mailed out lies about Mike and I to every resident in Belmar. (Cutting senior programs mailer) And you are now fighting to stop anonymous comments that you find offensive? What planet do you live on? You are misguided.
The malarky with “messengers” must stop. Everyone has a mailbox, so why do they need someone else to mail the ballot?
In person voting, or individually mailed ballots should be the only options.
As to anonymous comments, if someone is aiming offensive comments to you, take action to have the website or attorney identify their IP address and file charges
They are talking about Authorized Messenger Ballots NOT Mail-In ballots. Authorized Messenger Ballots are only for persons disabled and confined to their home and unable to get to the polls. Your side won by messenger ballots not mail-in. Ms. Deicke you are well aware that D’Jais with your side’s flagrant support was quite organized in their efforts to gain care and custody of hundreds of ballots, thus a win with these types of illegal and fraudulent ballots. I am aware in Belmar there were challenges to the authorized messenger ballots and one-third were VOIDED for discrepancies in handwriting or there was someone assisting and not identified on the form. It is also my understanding that domiciled challenges are being examined as none were done properly by the Board of Elections. While there is some discussion that several long-time residents were challenged, remember those residents used a messenger, were not disabled, and therefore did not legally meet the requirements to use a messenger. In my opinion, they should void every authorized messenger ballot received from a non-disabled person. The other residents could and should have voted mail-in and used their mailbox instead of giving care and custody of their ballot to a D’Jais bartender to do who knows what with it.
Mike Seebeck won the election at the polls over Tom Brennan by 120 votes, and only lost by 36 even counting these illegal types of messenger ballots. Jim Bean lost by only 68 votes at the polls again losing after counting the messenger ballots.
AND NO, many towns do not do this you know that. Just towns that really need to win because they are hiding important issues from the public and the candidate(s) are pursuing a private agenda at taxpayers’ expense. Those who participated in this scandal should be prosecuted, stay tuned.
Belmar clearly did not want the current mayor to be reelected, and were it not for authorized messenger ballots the real residents (and by that I mean those residents actually choosing their candidate on their own) would likely have voted the mayor out it was THAT close. And Mike Seebeck definitely would have won.
I for one still have hope this practice will blow up in the current mayor’s face. It is never right to cheat. Ever.

#5 i understand where you are coming from, however the way the law is presently politicians and people in the public are fair game to criticism. It seems to me with the way the council is operating is not in a manner that is ethical, otherwise a judge would not have stopped the vendor qualification ordnance which 99% + of the over 350 municipalities do not have. There is a bidding process, as well as an approved state contract list, as well as the GSA pricing.
I post my comments with my name because I am not scared of any repercussions from government. When you stand at tax court you will know what I am talking about. Or lay on the operating room table over 20 times. Having said that some who post here are afraid because they know they WILL be gone after. Residents and Businesses have seen first hand when Code enforcement or any government entity has the power to make you pay for speaking out via fees fines delays or any other tactic you tend to quiet down just to get your project approved. So it goes both ways Claire, as a reasonable person if a law were to require names on posts then speaking out has to be protected if you can write an ordinance to that effect then it is solved.
Aside from any retaliation from the gov’t, you also have to worry about some crazy nut private citizen coming after you. Personally, I’m more worried about that than I am about anyone from borough hall.
This is why I have my whole property under the watchful eyes of high tech security cameras.
It appears Belmar has identified an overabundance of residents who require extensive life assistance or support … support that meets the needs of people who can’t access their own mailboxes could be the criteria. If that is the reality, then perhaps our churches, town supported social groups, private social clubs,and the general population need be aware of all of these messenger assisted individuals so that they are served and assisted beyond the weeks leading up to elections in this town. In my own cowardly (anonymous) way, I look forward to final legal resolve to many of our unanswered concerns.
WOW, Jim-this coming from you who challenged a voter who used you as a computer tech….at her home here in Belmar?..Did you forget who she was?.who’s the misguided one? You’re telling me about lies?? What about all of the suppositions, innuendoes-with regards to Hurricane Sandy that went out from members of your party? Did you try to stop them? You who wish to be perceived as honest……with integrity-truly believe that damaging reputations through anonymous commentary is OK? don’t know if the flyers about senior programs were out-and-out lies….there were times when you seemed to be against everything th Mayor suggested…even good things……so..perhaps you mis-spoke at some point and don’t recall..I’m from Planet Earth-many people think you’re from planet VERY Angry-sorry about your comments….I’ve always attempted to support you and you family-I could have tolerated your criticisms, but your attempted sarcasm shows that you have a very short memory-if you’d like me to refresh your memory, I’ll send you a private e-mail…..your anger has taken over who you are…
Claire, I think you are confusing “supposition” and “innuendo” with “evidence of nonfeasance and malfeasance”.

I think that it is offensive to call someone who uses an alias a coward. Offensive is as offensive does. That’s all I gotta say about that.

Resident or not, the voter must be confined to home or disabled. The ballot should be void.
Admin-Don’t think so-should I have used libelous remarks….similar to what comments you’ve allowed posted in the past- Would that have been better usage for you? I’m also categorizing flyers sent by your side during the last election stringing people’s heads together…really strange-Can supposition and innuendoes be considered libelous? I think you better talk to a lawyer before you throw words like “libel” around. Very high bar, especially for elected officials to clear. None of the comments on this blog has ever even come close and I back up everything I say on these pages with evidence.
That’s a matter of opinion-the same goes for you with throwing the word malfeesance around…it’s most interesting to me that you and others of your persuasion can dish it out-but can’t take it…..you can throw words around….but I can’t? what about my constituional right?…..you started the discussion, reacting to my uses of supposition and innuendoes…….but now you have your back up??
Don’t worry Claire, nobody here is threatening your constitutional right to free speech. Only the government can threaten that right. (The 1st amendment doesn’t apply to private people.)
Very interesting how they complain about criticism yet it ok for the media and democrats to say things about republicans, YOU cant have it only one way!!!!! I am truly independent and not biased but when wrongs are obvious i speak up. Seems like local and federal politics are all about themselves and not solving problems or offering common sense solutions.

I for one am a peacemaker. I carried an olive branch after the Nov. general election to the next mayor/council meeting. I was accused by the mayor of
attacking his family after speaking during the public comment part of the agenda. First it is public comment. Second I have never attacked the mayor’s family.
Third, I requested a meeting with the mayor to iron out differences and got a NO.
Fourth: It is in your court now.

All Belmar voting districts moved to 601 Main Street because a State of Emergency exists …. 2012 Election …. 2013 Election …. 2014 Election.
The active municipal government building is a poor voting location …. with forces of coercion on display …. etc. …. when does the Emergency end?

The peacemaker comments are comical as is the present council. When are we going have a responsible group of people spending the public’s money as if it were their own, and stop the ethical violations, maybe they need to go to ethics class. For the supporters if you are so high and mighty on hiring Union workers why don’t the council members make up the difference out of THEIR own pockets and the supporters instead of donating money to the Democratic party which is a waste since the majority are going to vote democratic anyway take the money and add it to pay for the stuff that THEY want.
