So says the guy who will “hunker down” like the former Iraqi dictator. Stubborn is as stubborn does.
Just a completely idiotic statement.
Why don’t we take up a collection see the attorney and sue him for defamation or maybe slander. I don’t think I qualify for a “Terrorist” yet. But I wonder where on the food chain this puts him. All of the other element must be thrilled with him.
I think you meant to say just an idiot. This guy is a train wreck , pass the popcorn
Pass the aspirins please
Popcorn please!
Need a printout of that photo and statement to use in the election season
Claire, do you agree with matts comment? As a resident now, do you think the committee members are terrorists? Simple question that we deserve an easy answer to.. I’ll jump start for yah “clap on, clap off.”
easy come, easy go. That people is your government on
philosphy in general
JUST THE FACTS- Terrorists? NO. Just terrified of municipal debt.
Petition #1 was filed due to the extravagant size of three pavilions that were two-stories to be rebuilt on beach after Sandy. The mayor hired an engineering firm costing $1,035,000.00 which no one knew about. Petitioners WON pavilions were reduced to one-story but we still paid over one million dollars for the engineering and architect fees for over sized pavilions no one wanted.
Petition #2 was filed as the mayor bonded $7.5 million dollars to build the now one-story pavilions. Petitioners WON and forced the bond to be withdrawn as construction costs were too high.
Petition #3 was filed as the mayor passed a law that only contractors participating in a Federal program for apprentices were allowed to bid on pavilions effectively eliminating most private contractors from bidding. Petitioners WON and forced mayor to rescind law.
Petition #4 was filed as the mayor bonded $7 million dollars for construction of two now smaller one-story pavilions. Petitioners WON and forced a Special Election and WON with a large margin telling the mayor the cost of over $730 per sq. ft. to build two pavilions was not acceptable.
Petition #5 was filed as the mayor tried to sneak funding for one pavilion in the middle of an ordinance for funding of two other serious infrastructure projects that needed to be done. Petitioners WON and the funding bond for the construction of the one pavilion was rescinded.
Petition #6 was filed as mayor bonded $4.1 million for construction of one pavilion with the same plans and at the same price to build it that was voted down last year. Petitioners have forced another election in Nov. 2015.
If the above wonderful actions residents have taken under the law sounds like the acts of terrorists as the mayor claims, most can now understand how difficult it is to live in Belmar and try to keep municipal debt under control.
I would like to again thank the thousands of residents that signed every petition and all those who participated in obtaining signatures and exercising their rights to be heard and let the citizens decide. Thank you!
We can build one pavilion for 2.9 million from FEMA funding in place.

Belmar Guy-It’s interesting that you, of alll people, would ask me this question. While I wouldn’t use the term “terrorists”, I suggest that you examine the damage you did to my professional reputation as an educator-but that’s OK, because you do this with a false title-Belmar Guy. And examine all of the horrific insulting, innuendoes, false assertions and lies (your lies about my teaching) posted on this blog by commenters-and yes-the administrator of this blog…..when confronted, administrator claims the comments weren’t his-the negative ones-but comments from residents-it’s as if he wants to disconnect himself from this ugly statements..he’ll cite “freedom of speech”..;.but these remarks are really his responsibility as administrator-so, yes, people can be offended by the “terrorists” remark-but-God-how many people have been slimed on this blog-but you, Belmar Guy-have caused much pain when targeting me…..but I know that you really don’t care-because you continue to be rude….you poor people were called terrorists-yet the reputations of others have totally been destroyed on this blog- from the Bible: “Let he who is beyond reproach cast the first stone.”
Doherty should himself become an anonymous commenter to blogs and let an adult become the mayor of our town then.
#9. That is it in a nutshell!! Well done
Mrs Deicke, You interestingly didn’t comment on #9’s post. Do you have nothing to say about that?
#13-I was very impressed with the presentation given by Nick DiCotis… at our last meeting-I believe what he reported and think the plan, as it now stands, is a good one….petitioners have a right to do what they think is best-as spelled out in #9-I truly believe that all I have heard/read about the hopes for Taylor Pavilion is accurate-and look forward to moving ahead…..
Claire, Taylor Pavilion will not happen… Us common sense tax payers don’t wana be stuck with the bill of a building the mayor wants to build for his political legacy. Matt will be reminded very clearly that he called us terrorists when reelection comes and/or when he try’s to run for senator.
Belmar Guy-You seem to have all of the answers-and can look into the future-amazing! People who come out to vote will tell the tale of the pavilion-did you speak to Matt about his political future? You seem to have inside information…and you are all-knowing-the plan has been stated many times-no taxpayer money involved in the project-this mayor has kept taxes stable for 5 years-he’s not lookingg to have taxpayers fund the pavilion.
Claire, then who’s going to pay the bonds back thats borrowed?
Municipal debt and rising real estate taxes are two very different issues. Stable property taxes can occur while millions of dollars in municipal debt accumulation is also occurring but hidden. There is no doubt it will all catch up and taxes in Belmar will be significantly increased. It is inevitable with the spending going on and lack of income resources to the town.
#18-Not the taxpayers…..
Is this a robbing Peter to give to Paul scenario?
Birds of a feather.

#21, She’s getting as dizzy as our mayor.
My opinion: Using the word “terrorist” evokes strong emotion, warranted or not by the relevance and truth of the implications in the context. FOR EXAMPLE, Doherty is being a big “drama queen.” See what I mean here, no intention to stir up ‘Gay in Belmar’ or anyone else, but the use of a term can get under someone’s skin. Message to Doherty: don’t be a jerk – or be one and let yourself be exposed for what you are – a media exhibitionist. (Please do not take any of my comment out of context.)
#23 MS Perspicacity they use words like that to garner attention and divert from the issues because they have no facts or justification for what they do. They are such a bunch of phonies they cant get a real job so they go into politics to move up the ladder. The Democratic Party is in big trouble the best they can come up with is Hillary Bernie and Joe what a joke.
