Yes we all had a good laugh at Art Gallagher’s April’s Fools Day spoof yesterday but of course a lot of it was actually true. And the premise that Doherty would one day politically elope with Jersey City mayor Steven Fulop was something that was easy to believe for we Doherty watchers.
For example:
Why did Colleen Connolly pick the Scarinci Hollenbeck law firm to fight the petitioners’ demand to restore Belmar’s original Pay to Play ordinance? Remember, Doherty recused himself and so he had nothing to do with the decision to go with Scarinci Hollenbeck. But it seems rather serendipitous that one of that firm’s managing partners, Donald Scarinci, happens to be a big political player in Hudson County, is a big Fulop supporter and has, in fact, helped a pro-Fulop super PAC raise over $3 million in a very short period of time and from an oddly small number of donors.

Also, Scarinci’s political contributions list over at NJELECT is six pages long with many of the contributions in the thousands of dollars or even tens of thousands of dollars. Pay to play is alive and well in New Jersey and with Donald Scarinci’s help it may be coming soon to Belmar.

Does anyone doubt that running for Freeholder against strong incumbent Tom Arnone isn’t just a way to gauge Matt’s popularity with voters on a larger scale and get his name out there? There is absolutely no chance that he will win this freeholder seat. But it’s an awfully convenient platform when a Lieutenant Governor will need to be selected shortly.
Does anyone remember Dorehty talking about all of the wonderful large yachts coming from Jersey City to spend time in our lovely new Marina restaurant?
He is bought and payed for. We get the check!!
