Do not forget that the mayor and council members, in their wisdom, elected to hire their own tax assessor and opt out of the county program. To what end? Who benefited?
They hired the one that the court ordered???? Go to the tape…
Assessor and appraiser two different things.
Appraiser, correct. They “had” to go with the low bidder, but went with the high bidder for the pavilions.
From the February 8th (today) – Asbury Park Press:
“Monmouth tax appeals decline by 23 percent
Program’s backers claim success”
Unfortunately, Belmar elected officials decided to opt-out of the Assessment Demonstration Program (ADP) and now can’t claim success.
Matt refused to participate in the Assessment Demonstration Program for one reason and one reason only. So HE could claim HE didn’t raise taxes for his Freeholder run. PERIOD!!
To now claim indignation is typical Dorehty bait and switch.
Oh and one more thing. The distain and rude way which Dorehty treated the Admin of this blog on Tuesday was a disgrace!!
As always, the bully in him rears its ugly head.
Oh and one more thing!!!
Thank you Mark Walfiser. They had the first executive session since Dorehty became mayor. At least one of our council people wants to know what’s going on with all the lawsuits.
Maybe that’s why Matt was so upset. He and Tom Brennan weren’t allowed in because of conflict of interest!!!!
Thank you Gene. Once again more crap from the APP. Wouldn’t the real question be “What is the percent of successful tax appeals as a whole?” and “What is the average decrease percent in assessment”. PERHAPS that would give you the clearer picture as to whether the systems works or not. Another fine example of the twisted propaganda we have come to expect from our liberally driven media. Print only half the facts and hope the dummies believe everything that is written.
Giving partial information is typical of the mayor, like his reference to the change in an ordinance regarding cats – he mentioned that it refers to eliminating licensing with no mention of not requiring rabies shots. As a lover of cats and other animals, I was offended by his attempt to diminish the importance of caring for animals by making light of the matter and even laughing. The mayor should adopt a skunk (but the skunk would run away in terror).
David, can you answer a question? 1st reading of ordinance #2017-06 regarding rules and regulations for 5th and 10th ave. pavilions.
What newspaper was this ordinance published in.
Did not see it in the coast star today.
It’s in today’s APP along with public notices for 2017-05 and 2017-07.
Belmar NJ. 1 square mile, and an 8 million payroll!
I find it funny that Brennan had no problem voting to pay the bill to the tourism department for plastic bags. I guess he will also approve the payment of bills for the 10,000 plastic beach balls again this year too. Time for his vote to reflect his talking points on these issues.
I’m still finding remnants of those beach balls from time to time.
I have one of those crumpled up beach balls in the bed of my truck!! Don’t ask me how it got there.
You can’t release balloons! …. but, you can release cats.
$8 million payroll? Absurd.
Hey Tom you want to beautify Belmar, get a haircut and start wearing a suit and tie to school and municipal event start looking like someone!
