Which Is True?

……In a written statement Belmar Mayor Matthew Doherty and Garden State Equality Director Christian Fuscarino join the employee’s Teamsters 701 Agent Ron Lake in calling for and praising those who will not serve the Freehold-based company’s products during Sunday’s 26th Annual Pride Celebration in Asbury Park……

……“I am proud that the organizers of New Jersey’s 26th Annual LGBTQ Pride Celebration are standing by the workers and their families,” Doherty said in a written statement. “I encourage other festivals to follow the lead of Jersey Pride and the brave actions of these LGBTQ leaders.”

Among those leaders is Garden State Equality’s Executive Director Christian Fuscarino.
“The LGBTQ community stands for fairness and equality, it applies to all,” Fuscarino said. “By Miller/Coors products not being available like previous years, the workers are being supported and that is a good thing.”…….

OR?

Shore Point Distributors won’t be supplying beer to Jersey Pride, the annual statewide LGBTQ celebration Sunday that’s expected to draw thousands of people to Bradley Park.

But the reason for their exclusion is about concerns of safety for the festival, not a rebuke of the company’s decision to lock out its 120 union employees, according to the business handling alcohol for the event……

……Hotel Tides General Manager Ryan Jimenez said that the month-long dispute did not play into the decision to use a different beer distributor for Jersey Pride…….

……..Jimenez called the lockout an “internal conflict” for Shore Point that did not, itself, factor into the decision to use a different beer vendor for Jersey Pride. He said previous festivals that used Shore Point attracted protesters, which created a safety concern for the festival.

“It was nothing more than that,” he said.

Hotel Tides has a “fantastic relationship” with Shore Point and continues to use it as the regular beer vendor, Jimenez said. He plans to have the Freehold Township-based distributor supplying beer at future Jersey Pride celebrations.

“Shore Point has been nothing but supportive to the gay community for decades,” Jimenez said.

Fuscarino is from Belmar, BTW, and is apparently very friendly with Matt and Mag.

The business of politics must be extremely boring in Belmar for Mr. Mayor Doherty to have so much free time that he can get involved in the business of other towns. Seems to me that Mr. Doherty is jumping to conclusions in his decision to back the union workers – because I’m sure Shore Point would never consider informing him of all the facts because his opinion just doesn’t matter. Must be tough struggling to try to remain relevant.

Does Belmar have any LGBT staff to teachers? If not some should be hired.
