While I did state in the comments that I didn’t know for sure the reason why a section of beach east of Taylor pavilion was fenced off, the implication was that is had something to do with the wedding business plans Merri-Makers had for the site. I have learned that is for the day camp and wanted to correct the record on that point and apologize for the inaccuracy.

While it’s easy to be cynical, especially considering all of the questionable decisions made by the current administration, it’s important to remember that not everything that happens in Belmar is nefarious. Good on you for making this correction.
Let’s not think that there may not be secondary uses for this conveniently sectioned off area. Was this not the area of the bonfire which was part of the Mayors Ball? Does the Merri-Makers website not mention a bonfire on the beach as part of their Taylor Pavillion “venue”. Call some of us cynical, but I for one do not find this as innocent as someone may have pointed it out to be.
If you’re inside that the ugly fencing ruins the view.
So why not use the red roll plastic, on the sides, so people can sit there on weekends.50-60 little kid campers have never needed that much room.
Pay no attention to the new no biking sandwich board signs on the boardwalk, We are allowed to ride till 9am daily.
#5 The last couple of nights I’ve been walking the boardwalk a few bikers have whizzed by me. When I asked an officer if they were allowed to ride at night he said, “we let them if it’s not too crowded”. Well it was crowded last night, friday! It’s not safe to have kids riding in and out people walking.
according to the Borough’s codified “Chapter 18 – Beachfront Regulations”, the M&C can restrict the use of areas of the beach by RESOLUTION.
There isn’t a RESOLUTION for the subject area.
It’s not in the resolution authorizing the day camp?
Never saw that fence in the pass years going back to 1960
I smell a rat.
#9 We all know that is a BS story. I look forward to the fence being removed when camp ends in a week or 2.
You’re awesome, everyone of you who take the time and energy to reach the public with the true story.
In the past Arts and Crafts and games were held under white tents and I believe some things in Taylor Pavillion
Aka day camp Jr. Lifeguards there were
2or3 of the tents. The kids liked it and so did the parents. The were never penned in by fencing.
According to reliable sources Belmar will be under water in another 500 years. So don’t worry.
#13 – What age groups of kids are you talking about? Were they ever taught anything useful like knot craft? Or was it just another exercise in nonsense?
