People of Belmar got fleeced. Speak up. Get these lackys out of office and anyone coming in. Please. Break away from these corrupt deals made and return Belmar to the people of Belmar. This Taylor Pavilion issue is a disgusting example of the back door deals in this town. Belmar didn’t vote in favor of a wedding venue and Tax payer funded building for profit gain by one company who clearly had a hand In this.
If the borough wanted a Catering hall or banquet facility and was making money off of this to defer debt or pay down notes or at minimum getting a percentage of the rental of the room then maybe one could understand but to lease a kitchen (bc there is no seating) to a caterer who now is promoting the best on the water wedding venue in the area. Charging prices that are pure profit money making for them. Wear tear. Extra police etc needed for the use of the building etc and the town gets nothing out of it. I would rather see it be the wooden floor open space residents can enjoy like it once was. The people from Matisse must be pissed. They had a great spot. Could never have the carte Blanche like this now has. Weren’t able to rebuild. Total sham. What’s next paved parking across the street for the ideal wedding site. Let’s hope we can return it to what it should be and drop this agreement and deal in place. Vote them out

I STILL CANT GET OVER THE FACT BELMAR TAX PAYERS PAYED $7,000,000 AND IT HAS A DROP CEILING ? I DARE ANYONE TO SHOW ME A 1 STORY NEWLY BUILT BUILDING PUBLIC OR PRIVATE IN MONMOUTH COUNTY WITH A DROP CEILING.
$5 million. The original $7 million included 10th Ave pavilion and I believe a couple of toilet trailers. In the end, Taylor was $5 million and 10 Ave was about one and a half.
At least that’s the amount that was bonded for them. We don’t know the true cost of either building.

As far as I can tell, neither pavilion was actually “paid for” in full.
Does the average voter know they’re paying for a MerriMakers wedding hall?
Wait, you mean the Taylor Pavilion is not FREE as Doherty and his gang claimed? Or $1.47 or so per tax payer as stated on one of those glossy propaganda mailers? Were we DUPED? You betcha! Public works performed much of the labor. How could those costs be tracked? Overtime? We’ll never really know. Colleen is supposed to be receiving training to become the next CFO. Heaven help Belmar. Shades of shade!
#13 I know I’m paying for Merri-Makers to not have to pay to rent or buy a building to host their wedding in. I just can’t understand why the town council won’t put limits on how many times a person/company can rent out the pavilion. It is for the townspeople. Not for Merri Makers and now other catering companies to make a profit off of. Shame on the Mayor and council allowing this to happen. They need to be voted out!!
Administrator…please put the Borough/Chefs lease on the website for all to see if possible. My understanding is Chefs is paying the Borough a little over $200,000.00 a year for the first 5 years for the 9th Ave Pier/Marina Grille/Golf Course combined. The borough had to bond $1,000,000.00 to repair the bulkhead and upgrade the parking lot around the construction site (so the Marina Grille could actually be built). That means, in a sense, that Chefs is there for free for the first five years. After that the lease goes up to $300,000.00/year. Chefs lease, and its options, extends for 50 years and the Borough has get approval from Chefs if it wants to do anything more in the marina. Doherty and Connelly both knew it was going to be a parking nightmare with the “bar” and its undersized kitchen when the deal was signed. Every minute they are in office where they are making decisions for the taxpayers of Belmar is one minute too long. They need to go!

The cost to Belmar for the privelege of owning the land wherein the Marina Grille, et al sits is known as a White Elephant. Send prosecutorial intervention it’s a done deal, get over it even if you refused to VOTE for the scalywags.
19 Million earned by Monmouth County Beaches this year. Here in Belmar however the emphasis isn’t the Beach goer it’s the BARS.

Inside Cruz Bay, I find it interesting that they are going to host weddings buy there isn’t even a commercial dishwasher by the looks of it. (Just a very small 3 Bay sink)
