A fue years ago after one of thees mock town meetings by the BEL children I asked the teacher if she’d taught them any of Roberts Rules of Order and she said she had’nt. So when you sit though one of these things, awl you’re listening to is a rehearsed play with the childrun reading scripted parts.
So no different then the regular meetings?
#2 – korrect…
Matt’s rules of law
Who is Robert and why is he the last word on order?
In the words of the character Jack Nicholson played in a few good men,(this whole chat room is out of order).
#5 – Correkt, we don’t knead no stinking ordur…
The recusing mayor should leave the room before certain votes, not just push his chair back in open defiance of “the rules”. Who will correct him, the wimpy lawyer? The gutless Brennan now follows his leader in defiance. Hopefully Brennan will be out the door shortly. The mayor can then follow him.
#7, how about Walsifer ?
Sgt at Arms in charge of Maintenance on the floor. Obviously MD must have had a disbling, wobbling moment otherwise the Police Commissioner would have invoked the rules absent the Chair.
Point of order, point of order! Don’t know the Roberts Rules, but can an ex-cop Republican council member speak up without permission from the chair or acting chair?
Maybe MD was too tipsy to step down without falling on his head.
Anybody can speak out without permission from “the chair”; however do so @ your own risk because you’re at risk of being OUT OF ORDER. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
#7 people should stand and turn their back to council members who do not abide by the rules.
#11 Guess you watched Roy Rodgers to many times
#12 Like the NYC cops who protested Mayor DeBlasio. Makes an impression in the media. Will probably get you ejected from the meeting, however.
#7 – In California it is actually the law for an elected official who recuse themselves to physically leave the room. “Chief! Chief!” Maybe our “acting” police chief can be called upon to ensure that Matt Doherty does the decent thing and leaves the room.
15 … the operative word is “decent”. LOL!
Yeah, leave the room where he cannot make faces and imposing impressions upon council members. Also take his cell phone so he cannot text Mrs. Nicolay. (Not necessarily “meet for a beer later”, but telling her how to vote and what to say.) What, the mayor tells the cop(s) what to do around here, not the other way around. The lawyer is “the man”. Officer of the court and all that. Wait till the poor chap is asked to defend the indefensible.
#17. Day mayor isn’t running the dog and pony show in Belmar Colleen is in charge.
By the way two taps mean vote yes and one tap means vote no; 3 taps mean wavering, don’t commit.
#18 Wrong Two taps means vote no and one tap means vote yes. Three taps means start coughing and leave..
Havagood Thanksgiving everybody…
Crossing the legs means NO and man spread means YES.
In future petition initiatives we suggest similar signage imaging be used showing mcdirty’s images crossing and uncrossing his legs during time outs at meetings.
