the real puzzle is deciding to prepay 2018 property tax (the regime would waste before the due date) or just let the IRS take their bite
The state of NJ would love for you to prepay your taxes. The state would beef up their coffers and spend spend spend. The real issue is why the hell are NJ’S taxes so damn high.
#2…To many unionized state works with labor contracts that are unsustainable.
#3 – Sir/Madam, people employed by any governmental organization (local, state of federal) aren’t Union people. Only people working in private industry can be thought of as Union people.

Ok I hate to dis agree with Tom. The police /Teacher’s/town workers are all Union workers. UNION=UNION PERIOD EXCLAMATION POINT Thanks Obamamaa
I may be wrong and off base, but I think “union people” means people of a certain mindset who expect what the union leadership and contracts provide for them, not simply people who belong to unions because they have to in order to have a job. Not that I agree or disagree, but I think there is a distinction.
In my opinion only people who do productive labor (where there’s a tangible end to the days labor)are Union people. That leaves out all people who are employed by all governmental agencies at any level. That doesn’t in any way mean they’re bad people, just not Union people.
Products are “proudly made” by union people, and they say so, like in some ads.
Union Worker: An employee that is represented by a third party which negotiates wages, hours, benefits and working conditions for said employees. They are members of this organization (Union) and pay for the negotiation sevice…
Ok, I will pick a nit and say that all union people are union workers, but not all union workers are union people.

I promise, this will be the last thing I ever say about Unionism. I was brought up in my trade by my unrelenting father said to “hit it hard” every day I went to work. I was taught that if the employer didn’t make money, we Union men wouldn’t make money. That was the teaching in the trade in those days to young men. My dad wasn’t the only one either. We could make all sorts of mistakes as long as we showed improvement and were working hard and fast. Any foot dragging could get you fired real fast/”they want to see you in the office” as it was put. For the sons of Ironworking families, each day was a hell being constantly yelled at. It took me years to understand what was going on. We couldn’t have anyone who wasn’t into the work all the way hanging around looking to get money due to the nature and danger of the work. Then the fedgov (Lord how I despise that organization – on top of that, I reserve a special contempt for federal judges) moved into the workplace and everything has changed. Everything you think of today as “UNIONISM” is nothing but an illusion of what actual Unionism really was. It’s all kept in place by the fedgov to mask their takeover of the Unions built by good hardworking men. Every day, I lament the death of my work as I knew it. As a friend of mine used to say of that work, “If God had thought of anything better, he would have kept it for himself.” I remember thinking that the best thing about Sunday was Monday was the next day and we could get back to doing that work. It hurts when I think of this subject. I will never comment on it again.

there are unions, and then there are unions …. there are some who lead members to a productive life …. there are some who take the members money and throw-it in the political sewer.
It’s the unions who make our taxes so high. Here in Belmar tax payers get screwed by the union contracts too.
