“while newcomer Patricia Wann filed her petition for the Republican primary” This is the great news for Belmar! So happy she decided to run. Thank you Pat.

  2. Lets hope and pray Magovern fills the unexpired term. That way when Walsifer badly beats him he will be gone forever. Do nothing Nicolay is a joke. With Doherty gone who’s going to pull her puppet strings? Go Pat Wann we need a change.

At the last Mayor and Council meeting, the mayor said that he would have to step down as mayor in order to take his new job, implying, if I understood correctly, that there was a conflict, and then he said that he would still be a councilman. If that is correct, we are not rid of him yet.

Honestly, I’m not happy about voting for either of them! We need someone who cares less about themselves and more about Belmar!

Maybe we should all concentrate on what IS not what was!

#9, true. If a third spot opens up then Jim Bean should be a candidate. Who else to keep the new mayor on his toes.

Matt said he’s stepping down as Mayor. 3 Dem names go to the council to fill the spot. Looks like Brian will get that. Now 3 more Dem names go to Mayor and council to vote on Brian’s replacement.
Question- What stops Matt Doherty from getting that spot ???
    The big switcharoo.

Katrina: it appears that someone just doesn’t know that that their ship sailed long, long ago. Right or wrong it’s a People’s Choice operation in politics and survival of the fittest reigns. It’s the can do candidate who willing to listen and learn what the people want and who has support from multi-faceted individuals not just one way thinkers.

No one has more respect for Jim Bean than I do. He is a man of integrity and always sought justice and truth for the residents of Belmar. That is the hardest position to take when things on the surface look all new and shiny.
I walked with Jim on petition after petition. We got sued for erroneous charge of “voter suppression” for challenging 143 votes (45 of which thrown out by the board of elections). Thankfully that charge was dismissed by Judge Gummer. But it took a full year and unfortunately intimidated us into not challenging the next time. (Something I still regret to this day)
Jim had courage to call out the powers that be and for that he was slandered and marginalized. He was called Negative (something I hear still, like that is a bad thing instead of what it is, a clear warning of what is to come, a voice crying out in the wilderness)
When all of the accumulated debt comes home to haunt everyone in this town Jim Bean will be vindicated, something Im sure will not bring him one iota of joy.
Brian Magovern has proved by his voting record that he is incompetent.
So, having said all that, I will be voting and supporting Mark Walfiser for mayor.

Write-in’s never win. Don’t waste your vote. You saw how close the last election was. If Bean wanted to run, he would run. He is not running. Voting for Bean is a vote for Magovern

Not so in a Primary #21. During the Primary you vote for the best person you want to represent you on the ticket. The best person is Jim Bean, so why not write him in? Who knows what Belmar’s future holds, no one expected it would be like this! Except for Bean, who called this whole scenario with the town years ago when he ran…

The IDEA that voting for a write-in or third-party candidate is a waste is the ENTIRE REASON they don’t win. We have been brainwashed into thinking we are only allowed to vote for one of two candidates. The “popular” kids. Well to hell with that. I have voted third-party many times. I’ve written in Donald Duck for governor. Not once have I ever felt like I wasted my vote. I let it be known that neither candidate has my vote or confidence in their leadership. And if enough people think and vote that way, that the popular kids don’t cut it, there’s no reason a third-party or write-in can’t win.
