We took an interesting swimming test in a pool years ago. We were fully clothed with boots, helmet, cartridge belt, and a slung rifle. Yes, that was interesting.
Uh I’m swimming in my bath tub. This is crazy. Raise the salary 25% !!!!

Colleen wouldn’t lie, she’s always tells the truth. She’s such an honest person but why did she say they had that many applications? So who do they fire or send certified letters to now? The only person who should go is Colleen who is ruining this town in every aspect. Please somebody fire her.

Maybe we can lease the entire beach to Chef’s or Brandywine or Merrymakers then they can be in charge. The swimming waiters can patrol the waters. On Wednesdays you get two free saves with every order of wings. The town will get all that revenue and taxes will remain flat just like Teterboro. You know come to think of it the public library is looking like it’s more than 30 years old. Maybe we can get a shiny new one if we let Hooters build a new restaurant as long as it sits on top of a cheaply built state of the art library that we don’t have to pay for. Colleen get on that please
Once again Connolly has lied. The entire lifeguard crew is in turmoil. In fighting, lack of trust and back stabbing prevails. Doherty, Magovern, Huisman and Connolly tore something apart that was never broken, only because they could. The tradition of the Belmar Beach Patrol has been ruined.
As far as lowered standards are concerned, they’re between a rock and a hard place. The young applicants for anything that requires any type of physical ability coupled with a reasonable amount of dexterity is hard to find nowadays. All anyone has to do is look at our young men and women to understand they’re not doing well. Yes, I’m an old guy but I’m no mistaken in what I see.
Dopey Brian Magovern is more concerned about pardoning a lobsters life than the lives of every beachgoer in town.
Do you see who saved me? The only true heroes in Belmar our saviors the water rescue team. That’s why they are running the beach patrol now. Oh boy aren’t they the best? Colleen, Drew & Macgovern think so…..hmmmm….. if only they could swim without a personal flotation device…..
This all lays at Brian’s feet , for him to sit idly by and all this go down is an embarrassment. You can’t tell he had no idea that Maggie had secured a good job for Matt and he would soon be on his way. Brian when are trained carpenters coming back to fix the door on the watch tower ?
#12. I’m sure that building is full of mold with all the leaks it had. They put Home Depot windows and doors in, instead of the hurricane proof ones as required to save money.

Friends at 601 Main Street tell me Huisman knows he screwed up (didn’t have backbone to stand up to lying Colleen)can’t wait till October .
This preseason test is usually for only returning guards so they can begin crew before teachers and new recruits are hired. There is a run swim run ocean test required for new recruits. Sad if of the 100 applicants 15 seasoned/experienced guards and 85 newbees
Avon always required run swim run for returning guards in the Ocean.
As a resident I am very concerned for the safety of my children in the water this season. I dont know this Connolly woman but all I hear is negative things about her, Councilman Magovern and police Chief Huiseman. We will be going to Avon this year.
How about changing the sign to reflect the borough’s ordinance. And hire enforcers.
Beach Utility Fund will pay for surveillance as well as Beach patrol if needed 24/7 for any attractive nuisances such as dangerous and hazardous beaches and ebb and flow of the Ocean. Use the money for the public safety on Ocean Avenue, Boardwalk, sand and water.
The beach is an accoutrement to the boardwalk. Colleen?
The “Boardwalk Accoutrement” beach still cannot serve ANY alcohol to any Merrymaker’s customers on any part of the Belmar Beach.

Rest assured, the guards coming back will do their damnedest to keep the water safe. its going to be a difficult summer, with fewer full-time guards than ever before. The rookies? I don’t see them lasting, and if things aren’t to the returning guards liking, look out….or so i’m told

Don’t worry everything will be up and running and all the extra stands that we’ve added will be occupied by all new hires that took the test on Friday, rest assured. Trust me have I ever told a lie?
#23 OMG I remember them growing up on 18th Avenue Beach, they were the best and very entertaining too!
I have yet to see a lifeguard stand and any activity at the headquarters. I don’t know how the my will be ready for Saturday.
I know for a fact that there is LESS lifeguards this year than last. Lying Colleen, with all her advertising, lowering of standards and age requirement, still can’t get people. She should be fired. Swim safe!
Early afternoon today 3 very dangerous saves in Long Branch. Check out Channel 12. They will probably be barred from taping in Belmar.
