Sounds like its time to clean up 12th avenue a bit more, maybe the landlords that are objecting to any change that rent to these type of tenants are really the greedy ones.

I guess then we must supply them with a local dealer??? Are you kidding wouldn’t be cleaning up the community of drugs and illegal activity be a high priority to everyone? As long as people buy them someone will sell them within our Boro is a crazy concept to support. I can’t get behind that.

#7 – Okay, we can make an ordinance that all drug dealers must not live in Belmar or practice their trade here. If they want to live in Lake Como or Avon, etc., that’s fine, but not in Belmar. We have to protect our reputation after all.

Word is the guy was not at the belmar inn but one of the rental properties next to it. The whole block needs cleanup, getting rid of the belmar inn would be a great start

#12- You can clean up the area with three beautiful single family homes valued at $2M each, if not for the GREED of a handful of people, most not living in our town.
Drug deals and dealers don’t deal drugs out of 2 million dollar homes stupid people of 12th and none.
#16 so over the select few close minded older individuals of belmar and 12th avenue holding the entire borough back from positive change and development. Its not greed its change that they are afraid of most old people are. Your kids are grown and grand kids are probably as well. Another group of residents of Belmar are trying to make this place their home to and raise children in a happy SAFE community. You may not care what the next ten or twenty years brings to the Borough but for all of us investing now and raising our families need to think about our futures.

#18 So get the bars closed and curtail advertising for tourism. And maybe buy a condo in some new building that is not a PILOT building if you do not want a house. Contribute tax money to the school. The only constant thing in life is change. The neighborhood around D’Jais is very charming, btw, without the club, of course.
#18- I can guarantee you that three $2M homes on this property will raise surrounding property values a lot more than 24 or so condos will. You can take that to the bank.
#18 I don’t know where to begin. Calling people names as closed minded, saying 12th avenue is holding the ENTIRE boro back from positive change and development? How dare you! If it wasn’t for 12th avenue getting the boro to create community policing ,enforcing ordinances and working our butts off for the last 2 decades you probably would have never moved here to begin with.Oh! a new group wants a SAFE community ? Again How dare you. Just how uninformed are you. Without our efforts our community would be more unsafe. We want the same things you do and always have . I have lived here since I was 28 and am now one of the OLD people you are referring to ,who is afraid of change? Spare me your negative insults. I am not afraid of change especially if it helps our community. Stating we don’t care about the next 10 or 20 years is also untrue and ignorant. I suggest you get involved to improve your New town as we have for the last 35 years, so others will move here as you did. Time flies and to soon you to will age and the next group will hope you are gone so they can implement their ideas.In with the new and out with the old. Where are you putting US? Teaching your children the value of your elders is clearly a class you slept through. I hope for your sake your children learn what makes a community is all ages and all types of people. Oh and with all types comes all different opinions not just their own. Working with others especially with ones who differ from yourself is enlightening,you should try it sometime.I hope your parents see your comments and see how they are useless old people. Vickie!!! Your the best! So according to the newby all you old people on 12th like living with drugs and noise and mayhem. It couldn’t be that you would like new development that was reasonable and in keeping with the neighborhood. That you are open to change that fits within the scope of our zoning laws.
Vickie and Katrina – I don’t think it’s a newbie. I think it’s a developer who would never step foot on 12th Ave before or after condos.
“Holding the entire borough from… positive development” That’s a developer who has plans for 12th and other parts of town. “But for all of us investing now…” yeah – investing in his own future, not Belmar’s. This guy is making you think you’re the problem, that you’re responsible for problems on 12th…because you won’t allow developers to build condos?!. It’s a tried and true political switcheroo – getting people to divert attention from the actual issue of law and code enforcement, to a made up issue of allowing (too many) condos in order to save our town from it’s problems.

#3 I am 90 yrs old and I don’t wear high button shoes which means I do except changes but not 24 units with 42 parking spaces. Place them across the street from you and let me know if you will except the change. I am all for condos within reason. I believe you are still wet behind the ears and need some growing up.

Sometimes these comments get away with all of you, but it is always the same argument on this condo issue, but in all your years of experience please tell me when I single family home in belmar sold for 2 million, not even on the north end, so three single family homes notwithstanding impossible to build impossible to sell for 2 million each. Yet that post is unrelently. Just because you don’t like when people disagree with your views does not make them immature. The immature people attend public hearings and shout out greed interrupting a professionals presentation like a child, that’s immature.
#30. I comes down to this, whether a home sells for $2M or $500k. The owners(and tag alongs) of the property are greedy and think that the property is worth a lot more than it is. You don’t buy at an inflated price a piece of property and then decide that it is only worth what you paid for it by building non-conforming upgrades(homes or condos) to it.
