Thanks Dave. Very easy to understand article. Even for this “dummy” lol.
10th ave was negotiated under Matt’s tenure. I remember him praising it and talking about how there would be no children using our schools because they would be high end rentals. Like that means it’s ok that the school isn’t getting any of the money from the agreement.
I’d like to remind people there are plenty of taxpayers ( myself included) who do not have children in our public school. In my personal case, although I never had children, I have paid my fair share of school tax since owning my first home in 1984. And we all know the school tax is the biggest crunch on your tax bill.
Keeping our schools funded is important to society and community at large.
Equal distribution of the tax burden is what taxpayers would like to see from the Walsifor administration going forward on any new PILOTS. They say they are committed to that. Our responsibility as taxpayers is to pay attention, get involved, and make sure they hold to their word.
Those already negotiated under Dorehty are just another reason we find ourselves in the financial mess we are in.

Looks like schools get either nothing or a very small percentage.
Or, if the town has a mayor that has a working heart and a moral compass, they may get money in the negotiation.
Our mayor at the time didn’t have either I gotta those things.

The residents must demand that whatever Administration is in office, or those running for office, will vow that ample monies from PILOT welfare payments to municipalities will and must be earmarked each year of such PILOT agreement will support school budgets. End of story.
