You know if an opposition campaign contacted Ms. Manley because of her strong voice on issues of pedestrian safety it would be entirely appropriate. It is a legitimate campaign issue.
And of course it is also entirely appropriate for members the Council that was being petitioned to write to Ms. Manley. They should be writing to her. But why are only the Council members who are running for re-election writing to her and why is it written it on campaign stationary instead of on a Belmar letterhead?
I don’t understand it. Feels sort of Mattish.

I signed the petition. Why didn’t I get a letter?
Who the hell is Carvelli. That guy is a fence sitter and needs to go.
Looks like “Damned if you do and Damned you dont” being applied here. Campaign literature is just that, just like any other candidates who use media sources like Commonsenseforbelmar.
I’m surprised their pictures aren’t on the letter. Definitely a Matt move. And #2- He owns an ice cream company.
Incumbents always have advantages … no foul here.
This is the first written response to a Belmar petition that I have seen.
btw
At Tuesday’s meeting, THIS M&C made an apolitical appointment to the Belmar Housing Authority
I see Mccracken and bean getting in. Tom Carvell has no chance. He can go back to being a Democrat and hang with the doherty crew.
This ladies and gentlemen is your typical BS political response to a lackluster, appease the residents effort. People don’t read/obey signs and “sting” operations, which can’t be done 365, only catch those that already disregarded your signs. M7C can I suggest the following: Go back to the state and have them install rumble grooves, similar to those on the shoulders of the GSP and NJTP. Also have them install pavement imbedded strobe lights activated by a push button on both sides of the roadway(similar to those in Toms River near the court house. People, please vote these people out of office. Jim Bean for the people.
“Sting operations” are a disgrace. The rebels used to do that to us Yankee GIs back in the 60s. So now we’re copying rebels who are a known retrograde people. Truly bad business.
#8 Please elaborate
This does seem Mattish but we have been so conditioned not to trust our town officials that every this seems fishy. Was it only sent to her? I could see if the letter itself was used as campaign literature, that would be gross. That is something Matt would’ve done. He also would’ve sent this letter on official Belmar letterhead. Anything to remind everyone. He would have walked around with a sash that said ‘mayor” on it if he could.
I think the fact that they used their own campaign letterhead is slightly less cringe worthy?
At least no one is promising koolaid in all water fountains. Election season means campaigning.
All politicians are crooks except for TRUMP.
I was checking my mailbox and received a mailer. No platform, no specifics, but I did learn one of the candidates is a “Avid athlete & outdoorsman”. That settles who I am voting for. Bean!
If the weather is lousy election day I’m calling urber to get me there and back. Voting for that guy Bean
#9 – I’ll tell you but only in person. Come up to me and let me know who you are and we’ll go and get a cup of coffee or a beer (whichever you prefer) and I’ll tell you. I don’t feel like doing all that writing now.
#12 You’re absolutely right! Trump is a crook who became a politician.
#15 ha ok. It sounded like you were channeling a union soldier from the civil war. Rebels, the ‘60s (as in 1860s). I guess you meant the 1960s Viet Nam era. I’m sure it’s a good story.
#16- Unlike most that start out as politicians then become crooks. And Hillary was so holy?????
#18 – “Hillary?” – Is it true Billary and Bill are going to do a Fruit Of The Loom underwear commercial right here in Belmar at the Taylor pavilion, dressed of course only in matching undies and dancing and singing with top hats and canes?
30 day crazy season start
the lawn/window signs are the same as the above letterhead … Red lettering on a dark background … with office sought – white.
