And why aren’t we closing the Belmar Beach? Doesn’t that crowd tell something?

It Belmar doesnt close the boardwalk, the size of the crowd will increase to the point there will be no room for 6 foot social distancing. The situation will get worse when the temperature hits mid 60’s and above.PtPlBeach, Asbury Park, Lavallette, Seaside Heights have closed their boardwalks. You wonder why the virus keeps on spreading, look at how close the people are on Belmar boardwalk.

My two sons are back from college as the schools have gone to virtual classroom learning. They told me they were going to the Belmar house, and would be doing their online schooling at that location. I told them ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! There is no reason for them not to stay at our primary residence. Furthermore it is their civic duty to stay in place, to reduce virus spread. All those people on the Belmar boardwalk is absolutely wrong and only prolonging the pandemic. The Mayor and council really look bad for not closing the boardwalk. Their inaction is inexplicable.

So who has the authority to close our boardwalk. Mayor?? Chief of Police?? B.A.?? How many more people have to die?? Unbelievable.

3-I think people on the Belmar Boardwalk are fine. They are out in the fresh air, and not that close to people.

Well, I’m elated to see so many people out and about. Possibly, this will end the “new manner of living.” from looking at so many of the people, it’s obvious many of them have not been outdoors for so long at one time in years. Whatever gets people outdoors is AOKAY with me.

#3 – side question, are you seeing a refund from the universities for dorm and meal plans? I can see no tuition refund, as they are remote teaching – but your kids are staying or eating there anymore….just wondering.

We haven’t heard anything from Rutgers and WPI only said they are working on their refund policy and will notify everybody when they decide what to do.

Open up all the boardwalks. When you close down boardwalks you force the people to seek other boardwalks and that is what creates crowded boardwalks.

    OPEN UP ALL THE BOARDWALKS!

Scientists found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the new disease COVID-19, was detectable in the air for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. For those reasons, officials recommend washing hands, cleaning surfaces and “social distancing” in public spaces. I think you take your chances while walking on the boardwalk. Sad but true.
