But…is D’jais going to open?!?
So I buy a season badge then go on a hot Saturday afternoon after work. Oh sorry Joe beach is full come back some other time. Oh I’m on the beach with a few kids and they need the bathroom. Oh sorry you have to wait because a bathroom designed for 10 people has three in now. Wait about 15 minutes. Meanwhile your kids crap in the bathing suit. Either open the damn beaches or say the hell with it and go broke. Way way above average to many restrictions. What about “old man”? He can’s sit down on a bench. This is discriminatory against old people. Leave the benches !!!
Good one Joe. I’m still laughing at that – Does a bear sh*t in the woods?
You can bet your bottom dollar that the residents of will Belmar will pick up the costs, no matter how related, to cater to the opening of D’Jais. I just hope our town doesn’t again try to pin these costs on the Federal Gov. and five years from now it will come back to bite us in the end. People, beware of the phrase ” our Federal government will pay for this” fro our elected officials. Fooled me once……
Removing all benches is like telling people go to hell.
BELMAR can’t control group houses?if true they should ban group rentals.
Not such a great plan top to bottom.
This admin. has failed the residents of Belmar terribly. They care more about the 10s of thousands of out-of-towners coming down here wreaking death rather than the children of Belmar that now no longer will enjoy a summer camp. Disgusting. I really don’t see the logic. Perhaps one of you Wally supporters can chime in. Oh, forgot, there are none left.
#4…
The children of belmar along with the children of all other towns in the state likely will have no summer camp… how do you fathom relating opening the beaches to childens summer camp?
And why does everyone on here constantly bash “out of towners” Is convid exempt from effecting belmar residents?
REgardless of who is using the beach there is danger… but why not allow people to use the beach and hope we do resonsibility, then if that does not work..be agressive in changing the procedure..
the beach as much as you would like to think IS NOT OWNED by Belmar or your taxes..lots of entitlement in here that is severly misplaced.
1.3 miles of beachfront parking revenue should be a lot more than $150K … raise the rates and start Pay-By-Plate 24/7 on BOTH sides of Ocean Avenue.
Pay parking would also discourage social media car meets
Makes no sense to remove benches.
Everyone has one. And everyone thinks theirs is squeaky clean, while in fact, they all stink!!!
I seldom have ever had a stranger sit on bench next to me at the boArdwalk like Forrest Gump did.
I paid a lot of money for a memorial bench on the boardwalk and had it placed by the entrance of the beach avenue where my family goes to swim. It’s a very personal and sentimental piece to us, and we sit there often and remember our loved ones. I sure hope these benches don’t get lost or damaged and are eventually returned to their original locations.
noticed when driving on Ocean Avenue that the eastern horizon views are better without benches.
DPW did a good job
You know that chair you own and bring to the beach? Yeah, you can set it up on the Boardwalk which, by the way, was a concept to keep the sand off shoes so you wouldn’t track it back into your beach home or Belmar Entertainment venues.
Saints preserve us in expecting everything to be as it was in the 20th Century pre-pandemic filth!
I agree. The view is much nicer without the benches.
Senior residents need the benches on the boardwalk. Don’t deny them a place to rest as they enjoy their stroll on the boardwalk. Do not remove the benches. I’ve never seen the benches overcrowded with walkers. There’s room for only a couple of people to sit. Maybe a sign that reads, “ No more than one person on the bench at a time “ might do the trick. Also, most of the benches are dedicated to beloved family members, and families paid dearly for the plaques with names of deceased relatives. Removing the benches would be hurtful for family members who wished to honor loved ones in this special manner. In addition, what a huge undertaking that would be-to remove. Then put back the benches. This is not the solution.
17: Did it occur to you, plus, that there is a health crisis we are in right now which impacts, most assuredly, the elderly and immunocompromised? Those are the humans who might likely be more exposed to Covid-19 left by the infamous knuckleheads on beach benches? There’s a reason hard decisions are made for the greater good.
are the same people that are complaining about the boards and beach being open complaining about the benches being moved off because of the seniors? The same people who say on Belmar Locals Facebook page that we should all remain indoors until there is a vaccine? –Lets think about this logically. If seniors are the most vulnerable, shouldn’t they be staying inside and isolating anyway? You can’t have it both way people! Vulnerable and at risk people should stay in. Everyone else should go on with their lives. The benches off the boards might actually save some lives by discouraging seniors to go there. Who knew?!?1
I know the benches will come back eventually. But I must say the boardwalk has a nice clean look to it without them. Thank you mayor, Lifeguards and dpw.
Let’s not ruin it and put ATM machines up there.
#18 so I guess the person who has a bad back and no other co morbidly is SOL.
This whole covid-19 shutdown is a hoax, flimflam, fraud, etc.
#21 – Yes. God forbid there are no benches on the boardwalk!! Oh me! Oh my! Find something else to complain about.
Conspiracy to make way for ATM Mobile access
22-Not a hoax Mr. Dilberger. People are sick and dying. It’s real. Why are you doing this?
22-People are very ill and dying from
The virus. Why are you continuing to make light of this pandemic?
#23 Hey Bennie, there have been benches on the boardwalk since there was a boardwalk built 100 years ago.The idea to have not have left two per block shows how little Monmouth County cares about people.
#25 – Yeah it is. The govt. and their media allies know the three main groups affected by this and have gone ahead and locked down the entire nation when it didn’t have to be done – HOAX!!!
Lol the only Benny on here is Summer Timer. And he/she has been very logical about this whole situation I must admit. – anyways, still mad about the benches huh? guess you should go to MacClearie Park instead!
#29 – Good idea. Put around 5-10 more benches at MacClearie Park. But they should be placed under trees so that in high summer you can sit in the shade without roasting.
That park isn’t visited by high spenders
I don’t have much luck with this type of thing but here’s George Carlin on germs. He died in 2008 and already saw this malarkey (covid-19) coming. If it doesn’t come through just go to youtube and it’s there. He got a bit dirty but we’re “adults,” aren’t we?

Bingo – These bums running things know this about Covid-19. Yet they shut down the state over this – total HOAX.
Health Commissioner Orders Testing of All Residents, Staff throughout State by May 26
TRENTON, NJ — While more than one-half of all coronavirus deaths in New Jersey have been reported at long-term care facilities, the statistics are even more overwhelming in Monmouth County.
Of 466 total lives claimed in the county due to the virus, 342 of those deaths have occurred at 50 long-term care facilities — or nearly 73 percent, according to the latest statistics released by the state Department of Health on May 11.
