All kinds of nasty stuff in store for us at tomorrow night’s council meeting:
There’s a resolution to have the planning board consider whether the “ENTIRE BOROUGH” should be designated as an “AREA IN NEED OF REHABILITATION”!! I can’t imagine that anyone in town likes the sound of that! Sounds like they are preparing to start grabbing control of people’s properties. I hope I’m wrong.
Then there’s the first reading of an ordinance to borrow another $$$$ 4 Million !!!!!! to sink into the marina!!!!!!???? FOUR MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!
If the definition of a boat is a hole in the ocean that you fill with your money, then I guess the definition of the Belmar Marina is a vast crater in the ocean that you fill with millions of dollars of other people’s money. We are always being told what a great asset the marina is. The marina is giving us debts of over $10 million now, but no profits. I’d hate to see what Matt thinks a liability looks like.
And then there is also the matter of the evil SID. There will be a hearing about, and then likely passage of, the SID budget. I believe it’s around $176,000. I will propose we cut it by that same amount.
All this and $millions more of our money will be appropriated and spent tomorrow evening. It’s going to be a long night.

Another Great Job David….right on target on your first two comments, and of course the issue of the $1000 continues to be must read stuff.
Tonight should mark the end of the SID as we know it unless you believe that a few holiday flags around town, benches and crazy looking bike racks are worth $176K. Oh, I forgot the SID consultant that makes over $100 an hour (but rest assured he works more hours than he is supposed to).

Shameful that they paid good money for that site. Its been 2 years and it still looks terrible.
