The Mayor’s letter reminds me so much of the letter’s D’jais and Doherty used to mail out.
As a senior, I hope they do something about the bikes not yielding for pedestrians, whether we are on the sidewalk or a marked crosswalk. You aren’t riding in the Tour De France you know.

Aileen, I’m assuming since you didn’t email me and ask me to send my letter to Dave that you feel the letter is detrimental to me and i would hide it. I have no problem with the letter and I will send it to Dave when I get back In front of a PC. End of day probably.
Actually I can send all of my letters to the blog. I just didn’t do it because I didn’t want this blog to be only about my campaign. I got emails from other candidates, I got written letters from citizens in town, I got a bunch of stuff that I thought were more campaign related then actual interesting blog stuff. Anything anybody wants of mine to be posted just ask, but please treat the other candidates with the same rules. Everyone asks me questions on here that I always answer but never anyone else.
#8 – We’ve been repeatedly asking the Dem candidates what their plans are, if they are elected, and have never gotten a response. We have no idea how they would work on our budget crisis.
#7 sounds like she was just asking if someone had it and could post it because Dave said he only posts the things that are sent to him. Don’t need to be so defensive.

I am not a fan of closing the bars early, what makes belmar so much different than other towns?
use the police force to the ability, holdthe bars accountable for their actions, and properly charge them for use of the police, i do not understand how other towns can handle this and others can not..
this board seemed to whine and complain however all of the solutions are just simply “vote for this person” or “vote for that person”. I would love to see some of the keyboard bullies here speak at a town council or at any function…

It was weird how #6 asked to get it posted. Like it’s some kind of underground secret dossier. I read it when it came in the mail. Asking Jim for a copy is it would have took.
Yet the character attacks are all you people have.
Maybe attack Jim for his positions? I would debate the other 4 candidates positions but I’m not sure what they stand for. Just that the Mayor wants more yes votes and it seems Doherty wants more yes votes as well. Bean is the only one left.
Dont like the Mayor’s letter… In the real world streamlined and efficient equates to COST SAVINGS… Costs have increased based on the current budget and tax increase… Democrats message is a lie, but is a much better story than Republicans have… People vote with their pockets… Republicans need a better message or November 5, will be unfavorable… I like Bean but wish he was running on Republican ticket…
#15- Did you, a person that conceals your name, just accuse someone, who actually puts their name to their comments, of being passive aggressive? That is quite possibly the most hypocritical thing ever written on this blog. Which puts it pretty high on the ranking for most hypocritical thing ever written anywhere. Congratulations. Your prize? A dictionary. Your fist assignment is to look up the word projection.
Jim Bean and Aileen (and Katrina and Tom D) can be accused of a lot of things. Passive aggressive ain’t one of them. You might wanna put down the stone while living in your glass house.
#16. From what I’ve read, #6 has seen the Bean absentee letter. She may no longer has a copy and was therefor trying to help Jim by having it posted to this blog so that MORE people can see it. Why so paranoid? Your implication is that having more people see the letter would be bad for Jim somehow.
Jim, #6 was clearly trying to get the letter in front of more people by having it posted to the blog. You would rather #6 asked you to send it to Dave rather than ask the folks that read the blog to send it to Dave? Is that really your gripe? What’s the difference? I get that running for council in this town is no picnic but if you want to be an effective leader you have to try to see the best in people. Not the worst. I think your assumption is way off here. Another piece of advice while running for office? Don’t read this blog. My guess is that half the comments make you happy and the other half make you mad. Put your head down and run the race. These comments by anonymous people are just a distraction.
#6 is what she is… There is nothing more true than what I stated… Sorry if I offended you but the TRUTH HURTS… As for myself posting anonymous that is just to bad if you dont care for my choice… But #6 thinks she is an expert on every topic on this blog… Then when she gets pushback she doesn’t like it… Well deal with it…

#20. I’ll repeat- Aileen may be a lot of things but passive aggressive ain’t one of them. Do you even know what it means? I get it, you don’t like her. No problem. But she (as well as some others who draw frequent criticism on this blog) boldly puts her name for all to see. People who are passive aggressive DO NOT do that. Because people who are passive aggressive are too afraid to say what they mean so they dance around it. Or if they say what they mean they have to hide behind a pseudonym. That is what passive aggressive means. I can’t believe I have to explain this to a grown adult.
You can continue to post anonymously, you may be surprised but no one cares. But you can’t accuse someone of being something that is by its very definition, false. That actually IS the truth. I’m sorry you don’t like it.

A disgusting insult is a disgusting insult. What’s not to get? Passive aggressive behavior is when one vents frustrations or anger with another in an indirect way in order to avoid direct confrontation. I’ve known Aileen and Jim for many years. If Aileen has a problem with Jim she will contact him directly and vice versa. But I don’t expect you to know that. I do expect you to understand what the term passive aggressive means. You realize we can all read, right? I don’t see anything resembling a disgusting insult in #6’s comment. In this string, #6 asked if anyone would mind sending Dave the letter that Jim sent to absentee voters so that he could post it. On what planet is that passive aggressive OR a disgusting insult? It is meant to disseminate information. I’ve seen the letter, there’s nothing wrong with it. Do you think there is something wrong with it? If you don’t think that there’s anything wrong with it, why then would you think that asking for it to be posted is a ‘disgusting insult’?!? Are you feeling ok? By the way using the term ‘disgusting insult’ to describe #6’s post is called ‘hyperbole’. Since we’re teaching you some vocabulary words I thought that might help.
Oh great, there’s a real life example: #21 is being what is called passive aggressive. They insulted you with out using their real name. The difference is that if #6 had made that comment to you, she would have written her own name.

You assuming it’s a disguised insult implies that you think that there is something wrong with Jim’s letter and that anyone that thinks other people should read it are, therefore, insulting him.

Actually, Jim and I emailed back and forth after his letter came out because I did happen to have a problem with it. That problem was completely cleared up however and has nothing to do with why I wanted it posted here. Jim and Summer Timer clearly have animosity toward me which I guess shouldn’t surprise me, but the feeling isn’t mutual. The only reason I wanted it posted here is because all the mailers are being posted. I was asking if either Jim or anyone who received it could post.
I must admit I do sometimes post anonymously. One of the two reasons why can be found by reading the posts above.

Oh boy – I thought this would happen. No summer timer – my post “How about the letter Bean sent to absentee voters? Can someone post it?” wasn’t meant to have any kind of double meaning. I would have posted it but threw it out by accident.
It talks about the budget and that he’s always willing to talk to whomever will listen. I did not listen to him, even after I had a budget question. Instead I sat down with Belmar’s CFO. So I was paranoid. Then we corresponded and (I thought) everything was settled. His letter also talked about running as an Independent vs. Republican.
#31… absentee voting has been very controversial here in Belmar… You post a vague comment about absentee voting (disguised insult) which is passive aggressive behavior… Then you post and play the victim, which you are not…. More passive aggressive behavior… You are to funny…
The letter was sent to absentee voters only. That’s what the first sentence of the letter said. That’s why I referenced it that way.
I am aware that Matt and D’Jais rigged the votes with absentee ballots, and am as disgusted about it as you are.

Regarding Bean’s #7 comment-You know what they say about the word assume.
Summer timer- When you’re upset but trying to act like you’re not upset by saying things like “you’re to funny”, it’s important to remember that you want to spell the word ‘too’ correctly. The correct way to be passive aggressive is to say that someone is “too funny”. It comes in handy when you really would rather express how angry you are but just don’t have the courage to do so. I noticed you made the mistake at least twice so I wanted to point it out. To avoid making the mistake while being passive aggressive in the future, you can replace the word ‘too’ with ‘so’. Like when you are angry at someone that insulted you at a cocktail party: instead of summoning the courage it would take to confront the person, you can say, “oh, you’re so funny”. Now I know the words ‘to’ and ‘too’ sound the same when you SAY them out loud, but even in this hypothetical scenario your passive aggressive tendencies run so deep that you would probably text the person rather than speak to them face to face in order to avoid any interpersonal conflict at all. Now go out there and have fun. But not too much fun. Just the right amount of fun. Somewhere between too much and not enough fun. That’s where you should be. Just right there in the sweet spot middle area. Not too hot, not too cold. Juuuust right. Scientists call it the Goldilocks zone. That’s what you want to aim for. Right there.
