The mayor has to be held accountable on this, He is giving away our land to a bar.The plan was for a 300 person catering hall conference type center, not a bar/nightclub.We were to receive a 7 million facility that would be town owned after the lease. Why should We accept a bar grill that is going to cost them 2-3 million at most.Scrap the plan find a new developer.
And why does this not go to the planning board first, then to the Mayor and Council? Well, if the mayor wants it, then the planning board oks it. (Does the Djais liquor license play into this? Just a thought.)
This building is an eyesore and is vastly different from the previous drawings that this developer / restaurateur sold the borough on. Mayor Doherty would be doing a great disservice to the people of Belmar if he allows this building to be built. The developer / restaurateur should be selected from a bidding process and not handed to a select few who may be kneeling down to the mayor.
Djais must really be getting something to allow the mayor to give this handout to a competing bar. A liquor license, from Djais is not needed on public property just a vendors license to sell booze, so they get a free liquor license in the deal, currently worth 800k in Belmar.
Organize group to attend planning board meeting ,just like when they switched the lamp posts on ocean avenue, people hated the parkway lights and it was changed back to the original look.what is the date for the planning board meeting?

Next drawing will be what they really want, a hot dog truck and a huge tiki bar.
the new tagline of Belmar is
Belmar, Bars by the sea. or maybe
Belmar, Bars, for as far as the eye can see.
What happened the red roof was gorgeous on the 2nd rendering this 3rd version s awful
Do we have a say in the design or is it a done deal?
Next it goes to the planning board.

I thought it was supposed to be just a big restaurant.

Ugly buildings! And Belmar does not need any more bars. How about an expanded library building or a new building for a senior center?
Create buildings that will benefit the community instead of bars that just increase drunk driving and lessen safety in the town.
I wonder if they will have live music so Lois and I can go honky-tonkin’…
