#2. Imagine how Ken Pringle and wife feel. Its not like they showed up in Belmar UNINVITED. Matt and Colleen more like Bonnie and Clyde. I agree Belmar did not elect a mobster but they certainly, knowingly re-elected one.
Maybe the mayor has multiple personality disorder. That could be grounds for an acquittal, presumably, but he’s a politician, after all, being skilled in doublespeak is an asset.
The federal due process claim was superfluous. A good attorney for the Borough will remove this to federal court as well, which will take the case off of the fast track that it otherwise would have been on in state court.
Sorry for late comment, but I did not want to step over the following: I finally read the minutes of the 7/11/17 council meeting. I was shocked to read that not only did the one Republican Councilman, Mark Walsifer voted for this settlement ( Resolution 2017-120 but he praised the attorney for the Borough! This after Doherty had two friends show up and speak before the vote that Walsifer should recuse himself. Walsifer wants to run for Mayor next year? Really?
9 – Just reading this blog and all of the antics of the Mayor, Council, and Business Administrator, one would think that Councilman Walsifer would have put a stop to some of this but he just remains silent or agrees with it all. Although it would not be the total answer to all of the issues, maybe we should petition for a new charter study regarding our current form of municipal government and other options. Maybe going to a council form of government with a weak Mayor would change things for the better. But would that make for a Business Administrator being the boroughs CEO?

I love the smell of (the pursuit of) justice in the morning. But, of course, the tax payers of Belmar pay for the showdown.
The Mayor’s statements in this lawsuit sound like something out of the Soprano’s! We didn’t elect a Mobster we elected a Mayor.

I can’t believe our Mayor, the champion for the middle class would do such a thing.
Here it comes… ready ? Frivolous !

Reads like Nicky Johnson really is Doherty’s Muse. What’s with Kapalko? Is he the only one who will be made whole when the dust settles?
Roger isn’t stupid you know!
