Booze On The Boards!

At the January 30th special planning board meeting Mayor Doherty assured everyone present that there was no plan to allow for more liquor licenses along Ocean Ave  and that I was lying when I warned you all of the possibility here.  He blamed all the hoopla on a misunderstanding, but now it turns out the misunderstanding was a misunderstanding.

It turns out that on January 30th he meant only that the west side of Ocean Ave would not have any new liquor licenses.  At Wednesday night’s council meeting we were told that liquor licenses for the newly-rebuilt city-owned buildings on the boardwalk were a distinct possibility.

I could be wrong but I think he’s going to have a real fight on his hands if he goes ahead with this idea.   Anyone out there have an opinion on it?

I have my own opinion on this, but I have heard that there is a developing concern amongst many Belmar residents about this, and it does not seem to be taking any party line. I guess we will find out what people have to say.

The Boardwalk needs a New Jersey Concrete Barrier skirt to protect people and property….. No matter…drunk or straight.
