On those liquor license pay-to-play conflicts I would have reminded that not only is Brennan conflicted as long as he’s playing gigs, but Doherty is still conflicted for the next two years as well. (And with Janis Blackburn, Jennifer Nicolay got us into a $10 million lawsuit over the Harmon liquor license vote.) Liquor licenses are such an important issue in Belmar it’s ridiculous to have two Council members conflicted on the issue.
About the bonding, I think that a lot of people don’t know that New Jersey bonding law requires a supermajority of Council votes and that Mark and Josh together really can stop the bonding. Josh needs to make that clearer.
The special events is a no brainer. People are sick of them.

If Josh really wants to stand up to our mayor and scale back events, he should consider the following:
The Belmar Tourism Commission was created as a result of a NJ statute in order to ” promote tourism in NJ via towns having lodging for stays ( not daily visitors ). Besides Belmar not using tourism commission for the intended use, the commission if you read Belmar’s ordinance is illegally structured. Biggest illegality is it being run by a full time employee/director as well as having too many appointees. This has led to not only a lack of independence and accountability but fiscal abuses such as reported ON THIS BLOG: April 22, 2015 Gopal Tourism Contribution and May 1,2015, Stalker. Much of what is called for in Belmar is not a change in direction but rather a simple adherence to the law Josh.
The only ones that benefit from sales are the business owners and the State collects the sales tax and business tax. Avon, Bradley, Spring Lake are not going to the extent that Belmar is with Matt love of Booze. I suggest that a public question should be As a taxpayer do you want the large events such as the seafood festival to continue? Also unless it is an emergency no funding over 500,000 be approved unless voted by the taxpayers.

I believe some people are interested in Josh’s position on the following: Over development of the town, Liquor licenses in abundance, Bar patrons out of control and all the summer rental animal houses. These issues adversely effect the quality of life in the summer for all families in town…
Also just a comment to Josh… I see the “Zero Play to Play Conflicts”, which is great.. However, what percentage of your Realestate Investment Firm, has holding in Belmar. This could potentially lead to a quid pro quo conflict, considering premits, inspection and code enforcement…
Josh you’re just not engaged in the issues in town. You needed to be at the council meeting last, and stood with Katrina in the issue of the tree planting. Don’t give me any bs either, because every voter that has had it with Matt would be voting for you had you done that. What an opportunity lost!

#6…. I dont believe it would have been wise for Josh to get overly engaged in that last meeting.. What he said was adequate…. He just needs to dig into some of the bigger issues and explain, to the voters his thoughts.. Remember, cool heads prevail…
People, enough with the petty stuff. Tom Brennan had his chance to stop the mess our mayor has created and he has failed miserably. I’m not saying Josh is the perfect candidate but he’s probably a whole heck of a lot better than Brennan. Give him a chance.

Do you think his opposition is just sitting idle, they are scheming something. Just remember the what happened in the last mayoral election. When you are battling coruption you better deliver a strong message to all, as it is difficult to win on an uneven playing field…..

Even if I was not running for Council, I would have stood up and spoken. The abuse of power crossed the line – you just don’t mess with a grieving family. Its just wrong.

Remember what a slap in the face the SEA members got from their band leader in that election said that all systems were a good for the “Shovel Ready” project at the lake. Lies and more lies appearing at election time only. You were told to play ball with the mayor and he’d take care of you, Check out your own back and front yards and see if anything came through timely back then.

I find Josh to be an honorable intelligent guy. I admire his willingness to step up and run for council in a town as divided and volatile as Belmar. Does he have a lot to learn? Of course. Is he willing? Seems so to me.
Here is our choice: Either pull the lever for Tom Brennan and continue the status quo. OR
Pull the lever for Josh Vallario and vote for change.

Unfortunately, the best candidate does not win the election, the best campaign wins…. Just trying to motivate the man to VICTORY…..
Fine. But for all those who will vote for change, will you then starting Jan.1 hold him accountable. Remember we voted for change last year and we got a councilman from the opposing political party. Did he give us change? Did we hold him accountable? Will we hold him accountable next year this time when he runs for mayor? You cannot get blood out of a stone nor can you get change candidates out of the “establishment”. Just ask Steve Bannon.

And why are these “environmental” campaigns cluttering our mailboxes with direct mail. Those end up in a landfill too, geniuses.
We get it Josh, you have corporate world experience. So does Mayor Doherty.
I’d give Schneck a chance if he was running over the band guy. Built a powerful blog that is fair, is vocal at council meetings (nearly all) and posts unedited council meetings on YouTube. That’s an example of a leader.

Yes Josh I know you spoke, but where were you when Mutt’s enforcer tried to remove Katrina, you could have stood between them and really made a statement. When you stand you put it all on the line. You have my support but I would like to see strength, and values displayed instead of spoken. Go get em.

You can also sleep comfortably at night and do a write in. I want to vote FOR someone, not against someone. And starting a campaign in October, going to perhaps two total meetings and stating family time prohibits you from walking worries me. On his political Facebook page I see sponsored ads for him which are videos of his engagement (Why would I care or want to see that?) and a picture of his child eating chocolate. I find that reprehensible.

Talk is cheap, that would be a ballsy move for a perspective councilman to interfere with in a Law enforement matter and get arrested at a public meeting while running for council. I hope you all can throw that Brennan out on his ear. Once you do it is not Josh who is now on the hot seat it is all of you. The voters MUST keep his feet to the fire. Stand beside him when he is working for you. Stand in front of him if Matt attacks him. Learn from the history of the town and get it done. Go beat his butt Josh.
Think about starting your nine day novenas now, praying members of the Element. Other methods of petition to the higher powers also welcome. Why? An earthly concern of overthrowing Belmar’s dominant Democratic council and its corrupt methods.
Belmar has a strong history of being Bipartisan. Don’t forget we don’t have to be sheepeople to get jobs, homes or child care. Open your mouth. Speak your mind. Vote for honesty, integrity and ethics over dirty dealing party bosses pulling puppet strings.
