The “Who’s On First” episode of Russo trying to understand the State Statute vs. Belmar’s ordinance regarding Veteran beach access….. Based on the fact that 3 people approached with planned comments on this topic/complaint, it’s clearly a political tactic to make the new administration look bad, and has nothing to do with actually honoring our Vets. The tug at the heart strings issue is right out of Doherty’s playbook.
I’d like to highlight that Tom Brennan tried almost unsuccessfully to make her understand that she must appeal to the state about this. I hope Mr. Hutchinsen doesn’t chastise Tom for this. For Tom is in violation of the rules in his playbook.
Let’s see if Ms. Russo makes this her cause and actually follows up with the state.
Mike Campbell should have been fired for his personal use of borough employees, borough vehicles, and borough property for their use in the moving and storage of his furniture which was moved from his home and then later back to his home. These acts are what he was CAUGHT doing, one must ask what else may have happened that could have flown under the radar? The Mayor & Council are all ignoring this in public and anyone who DOES NOT speak out will not get my family or neighbors votes.
We all know nothing will happen to Campbell. It was a slap in every tax payers face to see him up there just a week after he used his position for his own personal gains.
He will continue to drive around town in his borough vehicle paid for by the tax payers all while making six figures and to do what? He is nothing but a bully and everyone knows it and nothing will ever be done about it.
We need to bring our town back!
As far as that guy who stood up and talked about his being a veteran and he should have had a reduced rate beach badge or gotten on the beach free, he should have just paid the girl and not made a big thing of it with a young woman. He should have gone through the proper channels with his beef. Carrying on with a young female badge checker is not the way of doing things,
The veteran was most likely recruited by Ms. Russo to make a (failed) point. Politics. The prior administration was giving away what was not theirs to give away. Everyone should pay to get on the beach, except kids under 12, and maybe offer some discounts for certain categories. End discrimination about the freebies.

Here’s my thinking let the badge checker look the other way when a vet tries to get on the beach. NO BIG DEAL It’s disgusting how are vets are treated.
#6 – Thanks for that find. Now Doherty rears his ugly head about his lawless behavior. Maybe he can waste all of our time next by speaking out about his mishandling of Belmar’s finances and his questionable dealings with contractors
Dumb Doherty does not know how and when to keep his mouth shut. He declared the beach access to be free on a Labor Day a couple of years or so ago, a bright, sunny day when the (broke) Beach Utility could have made a lot of money. And he raised the parking fees by the beach, doubled them, I think, which the court later deemed illegal. On and on, such a winsome guy.
McCrack-hole was too busy the last 2 weeks to review or address the 20 something people who previously came to the microphone and were outraged during the shame of a “Budget Hearing”? To busy to review the outrage of a 21% tax increase?? Pat Wann doesn’t know how to type so it took her 4 weeks to enter 40 names into some “system”? What lines of BS do you people we elected believe we are going to buy? Do your jobs already!
#6 So the badge checkers should ignore the law? Last year they were supposedly instructed to ignore the ordinance regarding no tents on the beach. Let’s see what happens this year about the tent prohibition.
Badge checkers should have radios handy to notify all the walking police patrols to respond to anyone not obeying the laws. You can not expect the badge checkers to be confrontational with patrons. Some checkers are extremely young and have little job experience. Radios would also help locate the disability wheel chairs and speed up someone in distress. The police walking the beach need to know the beach rules and enforce tents, smoking ,ball playing etc. You would think by now after all these years this common sense would be a given.
Ask Robbin Kirk, she wore multiple hats for over 30+ years in Belmar. She also knows where the bodies are buried.
12 – correct, it appears now that she may have buried half of them.
