  1. Magovern and Connolly are complete LIARS! I know for a fact the 3 not rehired lifeguards were never contacted by chief huiseman or anyone else. Just more bullshit!
Should the new guy be fired too for having stands down??

Mayor Brian Magovern does not know the names of the owners of the largest Hotel in Belmar? Sad. Without ANY notice the parking spaces in front of the Mayfair were “commandeered” the parking/loading zones in front of their business. What are the taxes paid by this landowner? What is the lost revenue in removing 3 or 4 parking spots on the boardwalk on the EAST side of Ocean Avenue.

If Ordinance 2018-08 hasn’t been fully adopted how can the parking spots already be changed to RESTRICTED (No parking).

Does anyone have acting chief Andrew Housemans phone number? I want to ask him directly if he has contacted the former lifeguard supervisors to explain why they weren’t “rehired”.
Everyone is still pointing the finger at the person who isn’t there, how convenient!

  8. #7. What a disgrace to our residents and visitors. Not only does Merri Makers get to make thousands of dollars on special events at the taxpayers expense but they get to close the whole pavilion down all day to set up!
Maybe BA Colleen Connolly is going back to her short order cooking days.

If they had not put those giant, concrete islands on Ocean Ave in place of the convenient entrances we used to have, we would still have spaces for emergency vehicles in front of the 10th Ave building and would not be missing those revenue producing parking spaces all along the East side of Ocean Ave.

I think the Taylor event is tomorrow night? I saw people setting up tables and chairs when I passed by this evening. I sure didn’t see an event happening. Another lie, not surprised.

  13. Fact Chief Huisman never explained to the lifeguards why they were fired. Fact Mayor Doherty said it was because stands were down. Fact BA Connelly said they have over 100 lifeguard applications. Hard to find the truth these days.

This morning I walked by Taylor Pavillion they have numerous parking spots coned off on the ocean and the lake for whatever event is going on. Who paid for the police to put out cones. And how do they get preference for parking. I sure would like a free spot reserved for me each day.

They put those cones out last night, but only bans parking from 6 to 11 tonight. But of course, no one is parking there now because it looks like an all day thing. Is reserved parking included in the rental fees??

Unbelievable! When the Barclay had an event, which was often, they never got preferential treatment for parking.

Someone should ask Acting Mayor McGovern and Acting Chief Huiseman why those parking spots are blocked off for a private business? I’m sure you’ll get a lie. They will probably allow them to park on the grass by the lake which we were promised never would happen. I’d say ask Connolly but shes probably too busy inside setting tables!

#19-Yes, I do remember when the Taylor Pavilion was open on beach days…available to take cover during sudden thunderstorms. I do know that the pavilion will be open for the summer campers…that is their home base. They are in and out when the camp is in session for a five week stretch. So the doors of the pavilion will be open for a quick escape. I’m going to ask about the availability of the building during rain other than the campers’ timeframe I know that when I took my children to the fifth Ave. beach, we always scrambled into the pavilion when a summer storm arose.

Off topic but back to deal life in during high season in Belmar. 8:30p watching THE and we were blasted off the couch. Normal visitors questioned what’s going on is that djais? It wasn’t chaos is too far away. I decided I’d give the dribbles 1 chance. When I arrived at their rental ok and behold a fancy black car was blasting away with the passenger door open (guess they didn’t think to open the window); i digress, I crooked my finger to one of the porch pack from last year and he immediately came over to me trying to shout over the headbanging blasting, ear spouting noise as it went to the car to turn it off. He told me they were trying to impress the young girls but he would turn it off. I told him that I recognized him from last year and he was too old for these beautiful gals. “You need to take them out, not just hang on your dirty, boozy porch. He laughed, I laughed and he said he’d make sure they were quiet.

As I started to leave to go home the intelligent, young, beautiful and well dressed young women thanked me for saving them. I related the above and they said no way, not in a million years. And summer saga will not start until June 20.

Interesting phraseology sir/madam. As a girl watcher par-excellence, I haven’t seen one of those in a long, long time. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen from time to time, but it is an extremely rare event anymore.
