So the infrastructure in this town is crumbling and these brainiacs worry about artificial turf ?! You seriously can’t make this garbage up. The funny thing is that code enforcement is non-existent in town so what’s it really matter ?

The lady who spoke at the 1:15 point of the meeting brought up good points about the tax base supporting BES. However, the one point that she didn’t bring up (I’m very sure she was ignorant of it) was that 2/3s of the student body is made up of the children of illegal aliens, who obviously pay zero taxes. And those students make up the bulk of the student who receive free breakfast and lunch paid for by the taxpayers. Of course, everybody on the council and the mayor is well aware of this but did not bring it into the conversation with the lady. They all sat there and talked as if this small point had no bearing on the conversation of taxes for the school. What a crew.

So, if someone does not like an ordinance that affects his property, he can contribute to the mayor or “other person” (my observation and opinion), apply for a variance, get what he wants. Why establish ordinances if they can be overridden by individual preferences. This artificial turf matter seems to be a bugaboo of Magovern. Funny, though, as Mr. Natural does not have any trees on his property, I think, and he is the Shade Tree Commission go-to guy. Yeah, this town is out of whack.

    You Guys??? vs Council members???

Too numerous to count the number of you guys references.

Grasses are not indeginous to sandy shore areas. Converting to grass is very labor and economically intensive. It also uses too many resources to maintain properly in terms of appearance. It is not considered conservative ecologically.

Nothing is grandfathered from taxes …. the assessed value of all properties with artificial turf improvements should be timely raised by the total cost of the installation.

It would follow, then, that more properties should have artificial turf because their assessments would go up and the borough would bring in more tax revenue. The use of chemicals and such to maintain green grass would decrease and be good for the environment. The use of artificial grass would bring in more money that would go to the school. I want a purple fake lawn.

    Nicolay on the fence ???
Mr Admin., can you tell the fine residents of Belmar a little history on the voting record of one Jennifer Nicolay in comparison to Mayor Knucklehead ? Emphasis placed on how many times Nicolay and Doherty differed on how they voted on anything.

#7 All tenants (illegal or otherwise) pay rent which more than covers their landlord’s property taxes. Otherwise landlords would sell and get out of a bad financial situation. It’s the absentee landlords who allow overcrowding, don’t keep the property up, and as a result keep their taxes low.

#20 Not unless Magovern or other person on the council thinks everyone should have them. Then it shall be decreed that all residents must buy them from an approved vendor. And if someone does not want them on the lawn, just contribute to the applicable person or entity and obtain a variance. That is called “paying for freedom”.

Sir, I agree with you up to a point. The difference is the immigrants of the late 19th and early 20th century wanted to assimilate and could and did. These people coming here today understand, at some level of consciousness they will never measure up to the standards of this country. All they have to do is look at this place and they understand. That’s why they are attempting to maintain their so-called “culture.”
