Well, most of it.
I couldn’t make it to last night’s meeting and unfortunately my camera started screwing up for the people who were helping me out and taping the meeting for me. Fortunately they switched to a cell phone camera to grab most of the rest of the meeting. What happens on second tape reveals that it isn’t Doherty that has recused himself on the attempt to change our Pay to Play law, but the Council, which has unanimously recused itself on any important decisions made since Jim Bean left office.
I think I’m going to buy a new camera this weekend.

Is it me or is Brian not that smart ?
Ugh! In an attempt to stop spin I wanted to express that Tom simply wanted information and wasn’t trying to trap them into saying something (as Brian suggested). My words failed me though. No matter, I think it’s clear that residents want to know not only specifics, but generally, where the council stands on the pay to play issue. Since they stated that they won’t concur with what Matt said to the Coast Star about appealing, we are more confused than ever. Two council people are running for re-election and they are afraid to state where they stand on this important issue.
#1 Juice its is not you, why do you think Matt had picked them all, plus they are all just as naive as Claire.
Dissension among Matt and his puppets?
Aileen I appreciated that you and Tom attempted to clarify the process by which Belmar decisions are made. Our decision making processes in general begin in locked-door meetings with paid advisory consultants, continue with multiple tweaks and rewrites and appears to conclude with the Mayor’s stamp of approval. The Council’s participation or informed agreement in the process is less clear. The questions Mike Seebeck asked, and the explanations he received during the Planning Board meeting relating to the redevelopment plan made that clearer to me.
McGovern and Blackburn must be held accountable for their actions and inaction on November 8th. They continuously show how uninformed they are.
Our entire council is left holding the bag as our Mayor shows his distain for Belmar and uses them. The sad thing is they seem to like it.
Some people get addicted to drugs and some get addicted to stupidity.
I think they all have Stockholm syndrome. They all sit there like saps taking heat for something they clearly had no part in while their captor can’t even summon up enough courage to show up to a meeting. I could live to be 1000 and never understand why.
Ah, um, uh, GEORGE.
Public discourse You tube video.
Aileen, Tom, this is so simple if viewed through the correct context. Where does the council stand on pay to play? They said it loud and clear last night. At any moment during any of the last 6 years, 6 months, or 6 days, anyone of them could have stood up and said, I don’t agree with _______. By them not taking a stand on purpose, they are agreeing with Doherty. That is who they are loyal to. Did you notice that any election without D’Jais involvement turns into a landslide for the “not Doherty” side. Doherty delivers the D’Jais voter mill for the democrat council, keeping them elected. They will always take Doherty’s side on everything. They can never go against him on a serious matter without consequence. So when confronted they refuse to take a side, give answers to questions you didn’t ask, and try to make you look dumb. I knew exactly what you guys were asking and so did they. Why is it so hard to believe that the elected officials are corrupted? By you guys asking the question of where they stand means you refuse to see what is right in front of you.
Im not at all confused about where they stand. Nor am I surprised about corrupt elected officials. Just lamenting it that’s all.
Tom and Aileen: answer to your question Tom their tacit consent meant agreement, period.
If Matt wanted to toughen p2p they would have agreed to that. If he wanted to get rid of it completely they would have agreed to that too.
The real question to each and every council member is what benefit are THEY receiving to pass things that Benefit the bars and not the taxpayers??? They have no conscience they have no soul!
Great job by Tom Fahy. His effort should be applauded. All Belmar residents want and deserve transparency. Brian and Janice listen closely. The residents are telling you what’s wrong- wake the heck up. This was a simple question and there should have been a simple answer. Did Brian just admit to sunshine law violations ? It sounded like he said they talk about it.
Would have been great to see where this went if the attorney didn’t stop Magovern in his tracks. By the way, it sounded like the attorney was starting to trip over his words too. Good job Tom !
How bout Katrina?! She does not get rattled. Was impressive.
Great observation Juicy. I rarely use the word but in a nutshell it’s called STUPIDITY. McGovernless looked like a bumbling idiot. He can’t even lie straight and doesn’t have Lawless Matt there to deflect the truth. And the other three stooges sat there puckering. Please, please people keep up the momentum from the ref. vote and lets get rid of McGovernless and Blackie. Again, spread the word, talk to neighbors, friends and family and urge all to stop this madness and insanity. Political parties DO NOT MATTER on a local level. What is needed, always, is a balance between both parties to keep all in check. Thank you for your support in this cause.
Katrina is spot on when she addresses the council. The non response/evading of any and all of her questions and/or statements speaks volumes to the public attending meetings and those who view the videos.
Thid town has been polarized by the current administration and that is a damn shame. Let’s get together, come up with viable solutions and get our town back on track for the residents and peaceful, non-disruptive visitors.
GRIP …. get rid of incumbent politicians works for Belmar 2016 …. 2 new council members would better level the so called “playing field.” …. 2 new council members can be effective when the mayor is busy.
My gripe is that “You have to go along to get along in Belmar. Stop the matness
Gene Murray, who encouraged you to write the sappy letter to the Coast Star lauding Magovern and Blackburn? Seemed like a Deicke form letter to me. Too bad you did not attend the meeting on the 4th to see the council members made to look like fools, but I bet you would not have noticed or cared. You stated a while back that you would trust Councilwoman Nicolay with your social security number. Come out of your happy dream world, you are part of the problem, a deluded cheerleader of a rotten group of officials. Keep smiling, the ship is sinking, but, unfortunately, the rats usually know the way to escape.
