Someone please tell D’Jais they are not a “special interest” of the mayor. It must be true, as it is in print.

Another typical Doherty stunt. Headlines. Saying and doing what HE wants. Not necessarily what the RESIDENTS of Belmar want ! To add more months of overload of drunken behavior to our streets may help a VERY select few bar owners and bartenders but what it costs in quaility of life issues to the taxpaying residents is immeasurable. Not to even mention the State ABC liquor licenses who have followed the laws and payed their dues. As usual Doherty thinks what he wants is what should be. To hell with the residents, we just get in his way. Pay to play baby! He even changes our ordinances to accommodate his political aspirations!! And our council just rolls right over.

Why doesn’t anyone ask the simple question in these stories . If these seasonal places wanted to serve year round why didn’t they buy a year round license ? Instead of expecting a handout

Someone should ask Matt why none of the other area towns mayors backed him in this . You know so he wouldnt have to go it alone, maybe that’s because none of the other affected towns wanted (1) (2) they hadn’t taken a bunch of free shit (ballots) from the Bar Owners just saying.

#3 I think the answer to your question is that there are only so many year round licenses available, which by the way I think Belmar is over the limit as per NJ state law.
    Is this correct Dave?

Thanks Bill, it was half sarcastic meaning of you buy a seasonal license then you know what you are getting and shouldn’t expect government to give you five months for free when other businesses purchased a year round license.

6 Eugene the Liquor Beer and Wine revenue is the backbone of any bar and restaurant. The profit margin is huge and for restaurants it can save them from closing.

Belmar is a resort destination not a place to raise a family. When visitors come down they don’t head down to the Library.

#10 In case you didn’t know— Belmar is a great place to raise a family. It is not a “resort” destination. Resort destinations are in Vegas, Mexico, etc. The school has produced many great students. Get lost..

#11 Old man look at the banners all over town visit drink dine no mention of family. The elementary school is not in the top 25. Look at other towns which promote great place to raise a family.

The focus is how long can bars be open.

How many restaurants and bars can we pack into Belmar.

Spending millions on beach pavilions not improving the schools by hiring the BEST teachers and getting the best study methods.

Does anyone know if only children of registered Democrats are chosen to go to the Belmar Summer Camp program? Who screens the applicants and decides which children are selected, or qualified, that is? I really hope the selection process is fair and equal consideration is given to all.

Also, what happened to the “safe haven” type program suggested a while back by Mrs. Nicolay, the one in which children who felt threatened on the street could go into certain stores for protection from assumed and perceived threats?

Ok everybody ..My point is that with a good family environment , like a mother and father, Belmar is a good place to raise a family. However there are certainly many other towns that are very good also. I don’t want all those damn bars either. I need to rest now sorry

Not in the top 25 – that’s a laugh. With an enrollment of 60+% children of illegal aliens, that’s not going to happen.

18 Anonymous Please explain what you mean by shunning shows your breeding??? That makes no sense. The points being made is that Belmar does not want to, nor spend money to improve the school, they are more focused on bringing tourists to town.
