“An Observation” sent this link in with the comment “Even An Edison Cop is making mayhem in Belmar. Stop the madness! End promoting tourism, I mean mayhem!”.

I thank him/her for the heads-up but actually I knew about this earlier and was waiting until lunchtime to post it. That’s why I didn’t publish your comment “An Observation” until now but thanks again!

Out of control. That’s the only cause unless Jack over the Hill is back making his stories up. The only time I ever heard a this happening was to Tina by Wall PD.

The lawlessness is fostered by council members. Who in their right mind would jay walk two (2) chilren in the middle of the street in front of BELMAR ELMEMENTARY SCHOOL definently crossing despite seeing a Cop at the appropriate 12th Avenue traffic light. And, other school children were crossing with the crossing guard at 11th and a uniform at 12th. Bad example and no excuse for these poor young children.

Please, everyone make sure Matt’s stooge gets voted out and we can start living with pride. Matt and Council, each and everyone one of you should be ashamed of what has become to Belmar. Not one of you has commented on the disaster that you created by promoting more places to drink alcohol. I am not a prude but this is over the top!

Lets see we still have the buy a board , parking fees , salt , funding split on the pavilion . Thanks Also in the mayors new budget how did he split the parking fees ? If I remember right due to the new parking machine the Judge tossed out the old split of 60% Beach and 40% town. Thanks maybe Kenny can update us.

This must have been an extremely bad incident for a cop to arrest a fellow cop. Belmar has always abided by the blue wall of silence. Even the visiting cops are out of control here.

Adm no footnote was necessary thanks.

The State ABC needs to send in undercover to catch the bartenders that are not cutting off patrons. Sober people don’t pee and puke in public etc.

#3 Jaywalking with or without kids in view of a cop? That is bold, arrogant and audacious.

#3 – I’ve long been against the policemen assigned to 12th Ave. There’s a traffic light there and children should be able to cross safely by themselves. They learn the lights that way. They live in this world, not some sort of fantasyland. Therefore, the earlier they learn the essentials of the world they inhabit, the better it is for them. If there must be someone assigned to 12th and Main, let it be an 8th grader. That’s who did that job all those years ago when I was a boy in Brooklyn at PS92(there was a lot more traffic in Brooklyn than Belmar, I assure you and I never heard of a kid getting run over). We must remember, children are people, not some superior caste. Keep things in perspective sir.

Tom read the post again. The issue was an incompetent council person (parent) jaywalking 2 children from BES across a very busy Main Street instead of crossing with the 2 boys at the crosswalks regardless if there were police present. Don’t jaywalking and don’t teach your children to jaywalking you scoff law.

#11 – Alright, I reread it. I don’t think it’s a big deal. In our world, people J walk. so kids should learn to Jwalk correctly. I guess if they made it, they did it right. We’ve got enough problems in our town without worrying about Jwalking. I hate to keep bringing Brooklyn up, but when I was a boy, many of the games we played were in the streets. I guess a kid here and there got hit by a car but for the most part we were fine. We even used to run up behind a city bus and jump aboard the back and hitch a ride for a few blocks (that was great fun)and after all these years, here I am. We’re getting nuts about this idea of “SAFETY.”

Too much carol monoxide fumes went into the reasoning part of your brain Tom..

Mothers who deliberately walk 2 children in the middle of the Belmar Elmementary School block crossing within congested east and west traffic lanes is BAD. Their goal apparently was to get to the Arcade quicker than the other children who were legally crossing the street from their school.

If there was a traffic accident then what?

Well, then what? There’re plenty of traffic accidents anyway. What would one more mean?

“OOO, I’m a councilperson in Belmar and can break any rules with impunity.” That’s the point. Jaywalking seems minor but it is indicative of a certain mindset. Kids can emulate the behavior of their parents. And, yeah, some kids are coddled and spoiled and are spared some tough lessons which could build character and strength, and even wisdom. Their loss, unfortunately.

#3- This comment I’m making isn’t about jaywalking… This is about your negative judgement of a child…really? This remark shows how low some individuals will go to be hurtful and ugly…children shouldn’t be targeted to make a point. The criticism of the child should not have been posted…
