Next step: a garage to be built somewhere nearby. Wait and see, create a disaster, then offer a solution. Go Mattie, you’re so smart! But wait! A woman spoke at a recent Mayor and Council meeting, claiming that she has contacts who would build a garage. Have not heard about any follow up on that idea.

You’re kidding. Does the State on NJ approve of the Djais security budget spending? Is that out of our portion of the beach revenue. Let Djais hire their own strong men and write it off their taxes. If we have to pay for their security we should reduce our taxes accordingly.

So boycott the beach, at least on the south end of Belmar, if not the whole length of it, and educate visitors to the beach that their beach badge fees go into a fund that pays for special police to control noisy drunks from D’Jais. What family would support that? Matt wants to attract families to town, right?

There is too much pressure on our police force to keep order. It seems they have their hands full. I remember back in the early 80’s how out of control the town was. Ken Pringle worked hard to bring civility and a better quality of life back to Belmar. The Doherty administration has turned Belmar back to the free-for-all, honky tonk days of yesteryear. Why does this administration allow more than a dozen special police officers, being paid from the beach utility, to work over 12 hours a day on a weekend to patrol one block of Ocean Avenue near DJ’s. And it is still not enough. Why does the Borough Council refuse to put restrictions on the DJ’s liquor license. It is clearly a quality of life issue for those year round taxpayers that live within 5 blocks of DJ’s. With all the police resources spent trying to keep order at DJ’s God forbid there is another crisis in town.

#22 – The answer to it all is that nobody is listening. These antics need to get into the Coast Star and Asbury Park Press describing the true life in Belmar during the summer. Then and maybe only then will the borough council feel the need to address adequate proactive police patrols in the southern neighborhoods. For the record, these patrols basically ceased around 4 years ago. Coincidence?

Shut down DJAIS. It is a fire hazard and has far too many people leaving there drunk and disturbing the nearby neighborhoods.
Belmar should be a bucolic family town, but DJAIS turns it into a frat house.

The sidewalks of Belmar should be open and available to walkers. Too often they are blocked by patrons of DJAIS and PLAYA BOWLS. Walking in the street I’d dangerous, but often required cause these places do not keep the lines of patrons off the sidewalks.

Close DJAIS, speak up and get this mess outta town

My opinion and suggestion: Residents should show up at the next Mayor and Council meeting in early June, and, one by one, step up to the microphone during the public session and speak their minds, not more police to control noise and unruly bar patrons, that is not the solution, but wanting to shut down the offending establishments. Each person gets five minutes to speak. Use your five minutes. Enough is enough. If they don’t want to comply, tell them their terms are coming up and they will be voted out. Don’t let the mayor wiggle out of wanting to close the meeting early, give ’em hell. The mayor and council members do not own the town. Someone from the administration reads this blog. If they are afraid, expect to see more police at the meeting. That is what they do to intimidate people. Josh Vallario, here is your opportunity.

These ‘kids’ are too drunk. No respect for anyone’s property, can’t find their rental place and banging on my door in the middle of the night demanding to be let in. There needs to be patrols up and down 16th and 18th all night long handing out $300 tickets for noise violations. Once these drunkards get a few of these tickets rung up, they may rethink their vacation spots. Let ME hand out the tickets if the cops won’t – I could’ve made Belmar and Lake Como $1,000,000 this weekend from the fines
