Wow…..I had to think about this for a few minutes before attempting to make a response. It certainly needs some sort of comment. I guess, after thinking about this, I would say that if blame needs to be placed, it should be placed at the appropriate level. To me it would seem that the two people who were hired to administer our governmental affairs, William Young, and Colleen Connolly needed to have had better administrative procedures in place. Things like this should not happen. People have to be accountable, but they cannot be held accountable if policies and procedures are not in place. Given the report I read, it would appear Procedures and accountability issues were, and probably still are not in place. I agree with the administrator…..now we are going to maybe have the same procedures and accountable administrators oversee the Pavilion bond? Unlike the Senior Center, I doubt any contractor would turn back any dollars thrown their way.
This may call into question all donations that came into Belmar. I believe the mayor says Belmar received $720,000 in donations for the Buy A Board campaign. Has that been confirmed ?
Two words – deplorable & disgrace! Donated or taxpayer money, this is all being managed by the same people we not only entrust with accountability but we pay them for at least a minimal amount of competence. I understand what was surrounding all of this mismanagement was dealing with the aftermath of the storm, but this is only the ShopRite gift cards, how much was “lost” of the other brands of gift cards that were directly donated or all of the donated cash? What a deplorable disgrace heads need to roll.
THE ABOVE COMMENTER IS JUST USING A COMMON FIGURE OF SPEECH. (I’m hoping I don’t get a visit or a call from the authorities about any threatened beheadings.)

Beach revenue for 2014, has anyone seen the numbers for the season so far? Lots of accounting in Belmar.
This would NOT happen if I were mayor.
