Aileen is it possible to enter into some sort of agreement with Neptune Aquatic Center to teach our kids how to swim? Maybe a 3 hour x 1 week class at pool and then x days at BES school for safety?
If organized by BES, the Y at Camp Zehnder on Herbertsville has an outdoor pool (with bubble). Why not ask the county for help to teach our children water safety?
Pool training is an excellent idea. They could learn how to float and instructed to do that in a rip tide.
Also, get the safety bldg open so police or guards could be up top to spot swimmers in distress. Haven’t seen any work being done on bldg in months, what is going on?
And how about cops in lifeguard swim wear walking the waterline during all daylight hours? Something must be done to prevent more drownings

Learning how to swim is not the issue.
Learning how to deal with a rip tide is the issue and you can’t learn that at the local pool.
What should be taught is NOT TO SWIM WITHOUT LIFEGUARDS NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE.
Similar to cross at the green and not in between.
