Mr. Seebeck has my vote if he ever runs for office. I’ll probably write him in this year regardless. He’s a better candidate and better person than anyone running.
I love my town too, I take it very seriously and deliberately too despite whoever tries to sell us down the river.
So let me get this straight. Brian McGovergn doesn’t care that HE participated in breaking the law with a civil rights violation, lying about the FEMA reimbursement and costing the taxpayers of Belmar thousands of dollars in legal fees and incurring a 4 million dollar debt,as long as the Taylor Pavilion got rebuilt??
And Colleen Connolly was just following orders “ all those years ago”?
Matt Dorehty, Jennifer Nicoly, Brian McGovern. The damaging legacy lives on.
#1 why would you give your vote away?
A few years ago, Belmar lost the opportunity to elect Mike Seebeck to Council.
Everything will stay the same because there is no one worth voting for. Walsifer sold himself to DJais and Wann will not say a word about it. Walsifer may end up worse since he is already wheeling and dealing. Get someone in there better than the current prospects and our town may have a chance. Until then we will stay run by the bars and developers.

Self serving on the Belmar taxpayers.
How much money was authorized to be spent by Belmar defending this Civil Rights Act Violations?
Did Errors and Omissions Insurance cover the Business Administrator misleading and incredible misdeeds?
If so, what was our deductible exposure for Bus inessential Administrator Connolly’s misdeeds? And, was the Attorney Connolly allegedly consulted fired for his/her misinformation and misdirection?
The first one to recommend that the Business Administrator be fired gets my vote. The last ones I will vote against until they are shamefully removed from office.
Colleen Connolly tried to mislead the residents of Belmar. How many times is she going to lie and lie and lie, and not be held accountable? Brian McGovern this is your time to show us that this type of incompetence will not be tolerated. If you dont do it my November you have no else but yourself to blame for losing the election.
As he stated in the Coast Star above the only thing that mattered to Brian was getting Merrimakers their catering hall.
Brian doesn’t have the fortitude to stand alone on this matter without Colleen telling him what to do. Such a shame.
Guys – They plan to fire Colleen. But stating that certainly isn’t going to help Walsifer manage as a councilman. Remember how they treated Bean? They have to run a campaign and be positive about their love for Belmar. Bitching about things that most residents don’t know about isn’t going to help them. Meanwhile, you have to vote for one of the two who may win. Write-ins are a waste of a vote. What do we know? MaGovern and Nicolay will continue to do the same. Walsifer and Wann, with the power of two on the dias, may alleviate some of our problems. Get real and vote for the lesser of two evils (if that’s how you see them).
Did everyone hear about protesters outside a restaurant where mitch McConnell was dining?
They were chanting “no justice no peace” with bullhorn and playing the song “fight the power.”
Maybe the town is a tad too comfortable for elected folks who screw the residents
I hate to agree with #13, because I believe in voting my conscious (which is usually with a third party or write-in vote), but this is not the time to do that. We’ve seen how close past elections have been. We’ve seen how much influence certain establishments have with their mail-in/hand delivered votes. We have to vote for one of the two who may win, as much as we may not like the idea, otherwise nothing will change. AND NOT VOTING IS NOT AN OPTION. GET OUT AND VOTE!

Brian McGovern IS JUST AS GUILTY as Colleen Connolly!!! HE VOTED FOR ALL OF THESE ILLS!!! Please stop trying to make it seem as if HE is an innocent bystander!!! Every single lawsuit the town LOst had McGoverns yes vote stamped all over it!!

#16 is right. Magovern may seem like a likeable guy to many, but he is corrupt anyway, too dumb to maybe even know that, which is stupidity, part of the problem in the borough. Give him the axe. Nicolay is along for the ride, a friend of the former mayor’s wife via their kids. (yeah, I mentioned the precious children) She is useless. Without the former mayor to tell her what to think, well, isn’t that enough?
Seems to me that the mayor Brian has no respect for the rule of law.
I remember when, as Council President, he angrily boasted while he was sitting on the dias that he wasn’t going to let some Judge tell him what he could or couldn’t do in Belmar. Check out the tape if you don’t believe it!
Sorry guys, but as soon as you sell yourself to DJais you are just as bad as they are. The slippery slope will run down right into what we have now. No difference between any of them. And let’s be honest, Walsifer should never be compared to Bean. Bean would never sell himself, nor would he sit quiet. None of this would be going on if he were elected.

The bottom line of the bottomless pit of Belmar corruption is that “I don’t appreciate Borough Administrator deliberately crafting misleading words in a legally binding Election Ballot interpretation. And she acted and did so, seriously and deliberately for what, 10 years?
I can still see Judge Gummer’s face when on the witness stand Ms. Connelly referred to the several million dollar Taylor rebuild pavilion as an “accoutrement”. Who does not have a grip on REALITY? So sad Joy not here to celebrate. The same happened to Steve Edelman, he left us before the judge ruled against all those other pavilions.
If you probably haven’t noticed, but I have been missing in Belmar politics for some time. I see as usual you are all too familiar with my cousin hindsight.
I’m a new homeowner in town. Let me tell you Belmar is like no other town! You have to pay to have a water meter installed in your new home, it cost $450 bucks. They didn’t give me money when they disconnected and took my old meter when we demolished our old house. No other town does that!!! You have to pay to connect your water pipes to the street. Even though Belmar has its’ own water dept you have to hire someone to do it. Costing $$$ No other town does that! What are we paying taxes for? Where is the money going? You have to put in your own curbs. When I lived in Lake Como they paid for the new curbs, not the homeowner. Next, we will have to pay to pave own own streets. Totally disgusted with how this town is run. Where does all the money collected in taxes and the beach go? I know one thing, it’s not being used to correctly fix the municipal roof!
I think I remember Mayor Matt’s press conference and maybe even some comments from Brian at the meetings that this building will be done the right way with trained, quality UNION labor. What a joke
