As I understand it, the property was supposed to be reassessed when they got the C.O. on the new construction.
The family moved into their new home in October of 2015.
Remember this?
Any tax experts out there?

It took over a year to get reassessed after we built our house. And I may not be remembering it correctly but I think we owed retroactively. I’m sure they’ll pay their fair share when the county catches up.
Oh wait – it went down $10,000 in 2016? Strange! Who knows. But I don’t think Belmar has the power to fudge that one.
Don’t underestimate the power of corruption.
Probably included in redevelopment zone. Oh wait, no tax abatements for residential properties.
when construction permits are FREE …. the construction official gets a bad case of the slows …. latency would be improved if outdoor beach towel drying was prohibited.
Did anyone see the new commercial endorsement on channel Fox 5 last night for for Mayor Matt D featuring the one and only HBS recipient, telling the public how Matt saved her and her family….They are all corrupt, they are all benefiting from this.
#6 Shoprite I am not surprised, i was surprised when on Channel 12 news there was a Union commercial opening scene is the Belmar Lifeguard sign on the boardwalk. If you did not read this blog you would ask yourself what does Belmar have to do with Unions?
2 separate bills were passed and signed into law in 2007, by then acting Governor, Richard Codey. Both bills allow for abatement of property taxes on homes fixed up by charity in certain circumstances. Below are links to P.L.

I HOPE THE TOWN RECEIVED PAYMENT FOR THE VIDEOS. WASN’T THERE A LAW PASSED THAT IF YOU WANTED TO FILM ANYTHING IN TOWN YOU HAD TO PAY A FEE?
#8 That house wasnt fixed by a charity. It was tore down and rebuilt 3 times the size. There is a difference between needing help to fix a house and scaming people out of money to demo your house and build it 3 times bigger than what it was
And don’t forget that the owner of that free home also received a reverse mortgage on that property to the tune of 800+k. What a scam on top of a scam on top of a scam. The owner sounds like they may be a career politician in disguise.
#7 A Voter…..It does not surprise me either,I’m sure Matt has a motive behind that commercial and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is not more to him and the union situation.
#11 ALLTRUMPEDUP…I don’t see her as a career politician, just a scam artist who had the right connections in town.As far as all of the scams this family has gotten away with, unless someone exposes her and everyone who has helped her along the way,It will only continue and she will continue to benefit.I’m sure if someone looks hard enough into the Shop rite cards they will see the very close connection to who was in charge of giving them out and the HBS recipient family
Wonderful commercial I just saw. My question is why does the commercial say that Matt raise 240k for the keefe family. That is not true. Matt scamed 240k from people for the two families. But for some reason nobody is hearing from Mrs. Sperber. Out of everybody that Matt said that he helped with the Sandy storm the only two people on the commercial is Matt Doherty and Teresa Keefe. Sure smells fishy to me. Dave please post the commercial
Been trying to get a copy of it.
I cant find it either but I just saw the commercial on channe 12 today and fox 5 yesterday
