Let’s have a fundraiser to bail her out! Matt? Brian? Save some face. You could not have made a bad decision, right? Throw more money at this individual.
My thing is if the house is worth 6ook and change then why is the mortgage for 817,000. Is there any way that they borrowed 200k from the mortgage? If so how could they do that?
reverse mortgage: a financial agreement in which a homeowner relinquishes equity in their home in exchange for regular payments, typically to supplement retirement income.
“unlike traditional mortgages, which decline as you pay down the loan, reverse mortgages rise over time as interest on the loan accrues”
Even though you get cash up front on a reverse mortgage there is still bills to pay. Real estate taxes, water/sewer , home owners insurance. Don’t know much because I’m just your average Joe
There may not be anything nefarious going on with this. I’m certainly no expert but I have read many people get in trouble when they violate the strict rules of a RM. For example, seniors sometimes get in trouble with the RM if they have to go into a nursing home because the owner must be a full time resident of the house.
#2 The amount of $817,500 listed on the mortgage document is equivalent to 150% of the maximum claim amount for the borrower’s specific reverse mortgage and in no way reflects how much cash they actually took from the reverse mortgage transaction. (The maximum claim is the value of the property or the reverse mortgage lending limit for that county, whichever is less.) It would be tough to know how much cash they actually received, if any at all. The amount available is based on borrower age, value of home, any prior liens, credit and income characteristics, etc.
#6 There are a few ways a home secured by a reverse mortgage can go into foreclosure. One of the most frequent reasons is because property taxes and insurance go unpaid by the homeowner. Other reasons could be because the person who took the lien out either moved and is no longer living there as their primary residence or they could have passed away. Even if married, if surviving spouse is not a mortgagor the property goes into foreclosure upon mortgagor’s passing if lien not satisfied by their heirs.
It has been brought to my attention that not only is this family in this financial mess but has recently had several neighbors file complaint against them and has recieved several summons and has been fined by the Boro for the property being unkempt and having trash and junk all over the property.Apparently there are several violations having to do with the upkeep and appearance of property.
If the family couldnt afford the house then why did McDirty and his friends want to build it so big.I am sure that family knew from the talk and the plans of the house that they would not be able to afford that house. The old house that was a fraction of that size was in foreclosure a few times so why would someone build it bigger
#7 I know the owner of the house is not in a nursing home and I also know there is quite of bit of money going into that house along with some shady characters living there. So why is the mortgage not getting paid. Is their going to be another Home by Summer for this family when so many other people need help.
#14 i believe the police have been called there a lot for arguing between the daughter and her boyfriend? And they recently had a child together. If you can’t afford your household bills why have another child?
#15…Yes that is correct and for any other neighbors with concern that boyfriend who has resided in the house since it was rebuilt, according to the App,Patch and TAPinto,David Braden 2nd 38 1002 14th ave Belmar was arrested and charged w/ Attempt to cause injury/criminal injury in Nov 2017 along with an arrest in Jan 2017 on Rte 71 and Curtis ave W. Belmar for motor vehicle break in,theft and possession. That follows a long list of convictions, all for Burglary,Weapons and Drug offense and Drug use according to http://www.datauniverse.com/convictions records. This man got out of jail and moved right in to a house donated by good people and backed by the town of Belmar. So sad when there was and is so many people still in need who would have done the right thing by this fundraiser and would have contributed something positive to the neighborhood.Instead a house is built, where donations and charity are still coming into the household and these people who obviously know how to work the system are continuing to benefit and take advantage at every angle.Maybe with any luck, they will pack up and leave and move to a more suitable neighborhood for the type of lifestyle they lead, one they can afford! I bet Mr McDirty is regretting his decision to ever get involved or help this one out.Just another bad look for him. What was he thinking??? or not!!
I would like to learn more about solutions to people who disregard the law. Recently someone mentioned in Cayman Island that if you do anything wrong you receive a demerit and after 2 demerits you are thrown off the island and not allowed to return for 6 years? Now I realize we don’t live on an island but receiving demerits beside a monetary fine and community service sounds like an interesting concept. Key west has also come up with their own version for rowdy spring break visitors . So there are solutions if you are serious about cleaning up the problem.
Refreshing to ask the public for any solutions. We know the sky almost fell in Belmar because of Matt Doherty’s gross mismanagement. Let the word get out Belmar’s looking for workable solutions to avoid being taken over by the even more corrupt State of NJ. Remember Matt Doherty was appointed to oversee a 30 million dollar budget at the CRDA in Atlantic City.
I dont think there is anything that can be done. The whole time that house was being built their was shady stuff going on.everybody knew it and said nothing. Look at all the old Home by Summer posts on common sense.it really is a shame.
All the attention that was brought to this fundraiser and all of the unanswered questions with no explanations for so much of the spending and purchases and donations given, mortgages paid, mortgages reversed.with all the talk about insurance Sandy fraud on both the mayor and families part. There was so much in everyones face but at the end of the day people wanted to talk but unless something affects them directly they couldnt be bothered putting effort in to stoping the theft or corruption involved in this situation.I will always remember the ribbon cutting ceremony and how they all sat there on the porch town and family smiling, and looking at all of us like fools because they actually got away with it and continue to do so today.

Beware of all reverse mortgages. Now I believe you can obtain a “Reverse Purchase”. Don’t know for sure but my friend is an accountant.

Everyone please remember who was selling Reverse Mortgages to Belmar Seniors, plus…..McDirty?
