First order of business is to get Brennan re-elected. Let’s be very clear on this…The Belmar Democrats have taken many donations from PAC’s, Unions and political committees. If they spend ANY money or put forth any effort to get Tom Brennan elected and he does get re-elected, he is immediately in conflict in regards to Belmar’s pay to play laws.

#1 – I don’t think it will work that way. Brian M. was re-elected and was funded by the Belmar Democrats. He does not seem to be conflicted out of any voting.

#3, Brian Magovern loaned his campaign the money to pay the democrats back the amount they spent on his campaign.

However, Brian Magovern is in conflict because he hasn’t shown who paid for his campaign office. Considering he never showed any expense towards this office, it had to have been a donation by someone.

As Mayor Doherty stated laughingly at the last Mayor and Council meeting, “everything is legal until it is challenged,” in so many words. He attributed that claim to the attorney Mr. Northgrave. He and these council members will try to get away with whatever they can until they are “stopped”, but who will do the enforcing? A judge’s decision is not enough. Vote the bums out.

I have gone to the last 3 council meetings to defend my artificial lawn, Exacerbating! The council has wasted so much time discriminating against 9 residents who have the turf, all because McGovern thinks people should mow their lawn. What about rocks – McGovern?
Finally they are grandfathering us for our existing lawn but have said we cannot replace so really it is not true grandfathering. They are trying to appease us and our attorneys. Hopefully Walisfer or Brennan are the next Mayor as they are the only ones that are reasonable on the council. They talk about being “GREEN” no plastic bags etc. but don’t want the artificial turf which is safe/toxic free, saves on water, keeps fertilizer from entering water system and cuts down on air and noise pollution from lawn mowers. They talk out both sides of their mouth. Not to say that the turf helps increase curb appeal around town. Belmar residents provide your thoughts on the subject, can also view Coast Star for last 3 weeks as they have been covering story and council meetings.

I went driving through town over the weekend and saw many lawns that were rocks or shells or dead grass. I would prefer the turf ordinance be on color and height requirements to guarantee a more believable look to the lawn. I see so many more pros than cons…I hope you continue your fight. Next they will tell us that our mailboxes need to be wooden posts with metal boxes which will rust and need constant replacing.

Yard maintenance in this borough is ridiculous. They let the lawnmowers rule the streets and the leaf blowers blow anything and everything into your streets, sewers and onto neighbors adjacent properties, including fouling porches with their dirt, weed seeds (they don’t clean the blades from one client to another) and asthma causing debris.

Get started on a preventive ordinance to stop the environmental havoc caused by pseudo leaf blowers.

Arrogance and self-importance. It seems that if a council member does not like something or finds it personally offensive, he or she wants to establish an ordinance banning said matter. Power attracts the worst and corrupts the best. Just watch. Remember that Magovern claimed that he knows what is best for Belmar, whether it is legal or not. Yes, he actually said that .
