This is getting unreal. Wish I had attended the meeting so I knew what it is about.
Crooked Matt will bend over backwards for the 9th Ave Pier, but the little guy (Harmon) gets bullied. When is enough, enough! Kudos to Brian McGovern for standing up for the repressed. Matt and his cronies will find themselves in a jail cell one day. Absolutely despicable that our town has fell victim to this crooked politician who has only his own interests in mind.
You can’t make this stuff up. Again?

Get ready folks. A town wide reassessment is coming. Matt conviently absent when that news struck. Leaving the others to vote on the 210,000 cost of hiring asessor. They kicked that can as far down the road as they could. We’ve been out of compliance with the state for years.
As far as Harmon/Kapalko, wasn’t that all decided under redevelopment and planning board a couple of years ago? Was the over 350 occupancy at the outdoor bar approved in that??? Why didn’t they consider parking and noise and occupancy BEFORE it was approved?
Poor planning. But great headlines for our Mayor at the time.
Matt Doherty who is running for Freeholder of Monmouth County, thinks nothing of wasting Belmar tax dollars. Why are We defending Matt’s ego and personal grudge matches. Wake up Brian, this is your town.
Once again, the locals are out of the equation on all counts! Anyone else think it was strange that the guy who wants to set up the bikes around town is from Hudson County? We need to take back our town!

Don’t’ get so excited about Brian. Where was he when the shenanigans first started? He knows he may lose his seat next to the guy that looks homeless. There was a time that teachers and public officials wore suits and ties. Where is the Board of Ed having pride and standards.
The marina redevelopment plan phase 1 has been set down and approved for years despite the shenanigans of the Dirty administration. Jen/Jan are going to be named individually now in the LAWSUITS.
The bills for the blatant obstructionist behavior on the part of Dirty administration is going to come out of your pockets people.
They are only courting Senior Freeze people for votes/approval not because they like/love and/or admire them, it’s because the Dirty administration doesn’t think they care about other resident’s holding the bag when their taxes go up. Shame on all administration members who are involved in such schemes and those who turn a blind eye to the outrageous redlining.
#9 The redevelopment will go nowhere. They pay a consultant or an engineering company for plans and sell it to a development company. Unless they have signed leases this will go nowhere. No one will loan money for a commercial real estate deal without signed leases. There is still space on the rear of the Brewery and on Main St.
Personally, I think we’re already overdeveloped.
This one seems pretty easy for me. There was a redevelopment agreement which the town has now violated that lays out what will be on the site in question. The Harmons went thru the planning board process twice as I recall for changes which again showed what was being built. The town hung them up for a year for a license transfer that should take 6 weeks and now two of the three voting members said no to something that was approved to people that have owned at least a business in town for years. Shameful all while the mayor is “absent” and councilman Brennan excuses himself.
Brian Magovern voting yes was all part of the plan. So now he can go to the Harmon’s and say “I’m with you”. Make no mistake about it, this was all orchestrated long before the meeting started. Kapalko and the Harmon’s should inmediately go to the state ABC.

I agree with you absolutely. What they did to Kapalko was a disgrace and probably illegal.
And now it will cost the town and the taxpayers a hefty price
#13 – Brian’s dumb rant about what good guys the Harmon’s are had nothing to do with the issue at hand. It was about whether or not to allow them to open their bar/restaurant, not whether they’re good or bad people.
I see 6 $ zeros in the future for the Harmons , they only question is what the number will be in front of those zeros. Plus the clock will start a new on the 3 year term they have to run it before building.

It’s not just Kapalko. Think of his partners as the property owners. Harmons the license owners and tennants. People that would work there. Vendors that would be involved. Etc etc etc . The scope of this conspiracy goes pretty deep and pretty sad

Has everyone forgotten what they have done with changes at the marina. Duh, no one knows what’s going on there. They are doing whatever they want by special agreement with Doherty. I hope he ends up in jail. He is ruining our town and costing us a fortune in legal fees. None of the lawsuits against the town have been frivolous, although all of his lousy defense and appeals have been. You cannot not have selective enforcement in a town which is what they have done with Chef’s vs. Harmon Brothers.
Not enough open land in Belmar. Need more parks open to thepublic. Anyone want a nice legacy here.. get some land add flowers and benches and name the park in your name
Hey Reality … I don’t know what you do for a living, but a park doesn’t pay bills. Why don’t you purchase a piece of property, pay taxes on it and turn it into a park. And you can name it after yourself.
Brian’s vote didn’t matter. He voted yes to look good in front of the public. He is running again for council. Jen/Jan were both told to vote no. Jen took one for the team, apparently they don’t need her anymore. Vote them all out, ONE BY ONE, TWO BY TWO. I challenge all bloggers to speak to one person tomorrow, ask them to open their eyes and read this Blog. And another on Sat., and so on and so on. Let’s start now to get rid of these crooks.
Lawless Matt and his kronies are on their way out. Even those who have supported him in the past, and those he could rely on for pass through politics have had enough. Unfortunately there’s 2 more years of this BS until he’s out of office (and likely in a jail cell). Vote for Walsifer and Vallario for council to put a shot across his now.
Hey Reality and Seashell been to Maclearie Park lately? It has what few have around here. Lawless Matt and his Tonto Connolly want to turn it into a parking lot. Progressives want to destroy all open public space and make all living more urban. That is their agenda. always study the ways of your adversary!
If you simply Google open space – liberal/conservative, you’ll find that liberals fight for it, conservatives fight for freedom against gov’t or for tax revenue. Check out Ken Burns’ documentary about our national parks. Jimmy Carter got death threats from Republicans about conserving them. Matt is not behaving like a liberal.
We want strict campaign finance rules, we want open space, we want to preserve and enforce the open public records act. Both liberals and right wingers are at fault for cronyism, unethical and illegal activity, but the actual votes by congress for these values of which we stand are by liberals. This blog is called Common Sense for Belmar. If you want to go down a road and compare our leaders to Hillary, etc. fine. But you should know that your values for our town fall into the liberal column. I’m with you on that;)
