I’ll start by saying I am 100% for helping out all people who were devastated from this horrible disaster. Give, give, give! My issue is with this narcissistic Mayor who wants to garner as much publicity as he can get for himself. I find his behavior disgusting.
If a resolution is needed to allow first responders on beach free, shouldn’t this require an emergency meeting to pass the resolution?
Boss Tweedy Doughty. Let the employees at the beach tending stations off for the day and ask if they’d like to volunteer what they would have earned for the day to Rockport by Mr. Magnanimous Doughty. Those poor souls don’t know what to do

Once again the king has decided that the taxpayers’ will forego revenue on the chance that people may once again feel obligated to donate, while attempting to make himself look good. Why should this really surprise anyone?

Mayor Matt would be the VERY last person I would trust my donation for Texas to. Donate online or directly to the Red Cross. No need to make Matt Doherty the middleman. Would Matt donate a portion of the seasonal badge revenue for this “free day”
Narcissistic F**k. So it’s gonna be crap weather sat and sun and u decide to give away revenue for the borough as the decider in charge. Not against donations for them. Even having the Cruz bay employees soliciting for donations while taking orders (joke) but to give away revenue for the borough doesn’t seem legal and right. Let people make donations at all your bars and restaurants as you stated in your little one minute speech on the beach the other day. Someone please stop this madman
Aren’t you suppose to make the money first? And then use the profit to donate to the relief? LOL.. How is Belmar gonna benefit letting people go on the beach and park for free? I rather make all that money and give a percentage of it away, then loose out on everything. Am I wrong?

#11, I totally agree with you. I wouldn’t trust that ego maniac with even a $1 donation particularly since it is more about him getting his ego stroked than the victims. Set up a GoFundMe page-why is an in person visit needed? Also, were those monies he collected from beach goers his to take? Was that even legal?? Sadly, I avoided going to Belmar beach on purpose Monday and gave way more than $8 thru an upstanding charity to support those people suffering the effects of Harvey. Sad, really sad state of affairs.
