They will build this new monstrosity anyway. Parking and traffic will be a nightmare. Big ugly building. Welcome to the New Long Branch.
It could turn out to be like the Notorious Belmar Inn. That gracious hotel in 12th Avenue, a few short steps from the Ocean Avenue Beach. Join your fellow citizens enjoying the breezes and the loosies, ciggies, and what ever else in their verandah twenty-four hours a day. Remember folks, It’s better the devil you know than the unknown (progress).
This will be an above average disaster.
Parking will be chaos, look at the ugly 700
10th Ave building. They take all of the visitor parking in their garage and then spill out onto the street.
There are so many things wrong with this building I don’t know where to start. I encourage everyone who feels that this is not the right thing for Belmar to call in to the meeting and to speak up. Even if it is just to say that you oppose it.
It’s a done deal. Belmar loves high density high rise buildings with retail spaces. The slums of the future.
#6 agreed, but this one doesn’t even have retail underneath. Just a deserted parking garage. I guess it’ll be good for muggings.
The only one that is going for this monstrosity is the builder and all the ones that are in his pocket. Belmar is not a place for residences to stay anymore because even if you voice an opion, which many, many have it falls on deaf ears. We got rid of bars and we are getting more. The beach is not a place of relaxation any more because there is drinking and more pot than you can inhale. There is a lot of pot smoking in the rentals. So why am I staying here. A lot to think about.
Every single partner and investor in this project should be disclosed to the Planning Board before this is even heard.
The new apartments in town(Past 5 years) are filled with bad people, the buildings are eyesores compared to what was there, the new tax revenue is less than what was there, and oh this is causing structural utilities overload to our town! Oh wait!! None of this is true. Not in my backyard thinking is what is holding us back. Please don’t be short sighted and let progress begin.
#9 The planning board application posted on the borough website lists 6 of the owners. There is 5.6% ownership of the company that is unaccounted for.
#10 Some are good, and some are bad. Not all ‘progress’ is great. Particularly when the building is spot-zoned to allow a huge building on a lot not big enough to support it. I like the laws we have and think they are reasonable. I am tired of them being circumvented or changed to suit the needs of a single developer.
#8- Think about moving to Lake Como or Spring Lake Heights. Their taxes are going down because we subsidize their services, PD, dispatch and so on. Our CONTINUE to skyrocket. Less services for more money. Get rid of these people, AGAIN, till we get this right.
