A beautiful tribute will be made this Sunday to someone who was a dear friend of mine and who I miss greatly and still think about every day.
A crepe myrtle tree, Joy’s favorite kind of tree, will be planted along the south shore of Silver Lake to honor her memory and to recognize the great happiness she added to the lives of her family and her many friends. For me it will have to substitute for a statue of her that would remind passers by of all she did for the people of Belmar in the last few years of her life.
It was actually Joy’s daughter Angela’s sorority sisters at Chi Omega, University of Delaware, that came up with the idea and planned and organized the event. Heartfelt thanks to them.
Anyone is free to attend and it would be nice to see some of the people who knew Joy, or knew of her, showing up and being a part of it. It will take place at noon, October 15 in approximately the spot indicated below.
With her husband Carmine

Thank you Dave for sharing this with your readers. Anyone who worked with Joy knows how dedicated to the public good she was. What a wonderful tribute to her and her family. I miss you so my Joyous

Plan on attending
What a caring lady and good friend of the community. Rest in peace.
She convinced me to run last year. I only knew her for a short time, but what a lady she was. Impressive and committed!
There is no better recommendation for me than Joy encouraging you to run for office in Belmar. It was because she knew you had the goods and honor Josh.
Will be glad and sad to be there.
