D’Jais is “spring cleaning”. Tables on porch out already. Think they know something we don’t?
They probably have been assured that the Governor will sign the bill into law late this coming Friday, thus attempting to prohibit any immediate legal action and allowing for their parade day mayhem to occur.
Bobby Byrne subliminal message?
When is the Governor supposed to decide?
Has to be this week. The parade is on Sunday
#3 haha! Subliminal message? I’ll say this: Bobby Byrne (my dad) is retiring soon…maybe time for D’Jais to to the same??? Back in the 60’s or 70’s, Frank Sementa was a bartender at Jimmy Byrne’s Sea Girt Inn – my uncle’s place. I feel funny trying to tame D’Jais when I hear the stories of hundred’s of dancing people making the floor bounce at the Sea Girt Inn;)
Aileen, please look at the videos from the Sea Girt Inn. Remember the 3 day sell out crowds at Convention Hall still looking for the Byrnes Brothers within the last 10 years. We are all waiting for your Uncle’s Montages of those days. Facebook had surges when some photos appeared this year. It was a sing along, happy crowd that, just like the Joe Finn crowds, enjoyed the entertainment, went home, ahem, no fighting, drunks yes, but they knew their place(s) in Belmar, Avon and Spring Lake. How many fights were there in Dad’s last couple of years at Connollys? How many fights does anyone remember at the Norwood or the BFC? THE CROWDS ARE NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENT. We are all in agreement that Bobby Byrne is not the banner boy for Djas and their quest to have an additional 2 months added to their seasonal licenses so they can, shall we say sell to the highest bidder. They are using every dirty trick to get support just like they did with the absentee ballots in past elections, all on the backs of the real residents at the Old New Jersey Shore.
Dear Gov.,
The Belmar parade route has electrical hazards this year. Please don’t encourage 60,000 people to take risk.
Thank you,
That’s why there’s a new balloon ordinance?
How can Belmar host a huge parade when it is alleged the light poles are electrified?
Thanks #7. My uncle wanted to create a montage from the Reunion concert but the photos and videos were so dark, it didn’t work out:(
We’ll have to rely on our memory.
How about an article about the electrified light poles and give contact info for mayor, council, governor, senators, and town lawyer. It is absurd to have a parade with this active hazard
Homeland Security Issue?
#11 There is software to correct that, just google my video or pics are too dark.
OK, so move the parade to Ocean Avenue.
#9 Aha! That is sensible and reasonable. Ban the balloons and revamp the playgrounds for one million dollars. Distract and divert attention. And keep some of the lights on the poles north of 10th Avenue turned off so they don’t go “zzzzt zzzzt zzzzt”. Dead people and dogs won’t litter the sidewalks. Fewer lawsuits. See how well the current administration runs the borough?
But if you move the parade to Ocean Avenue then you would HAVE to let D’Jais open. I mean, they are right there and so let the drunks stay there. Although don’t forget about starting the lifeguards and badge checkers early too since you know those who drink too much will make their way to the ocean.
Remember when the most valuable properties on earth, ie, first 2 Ocean blocks East to West were the only areas that allowed summer rentals by Belmar ordinance? Is that the future?
