DOT is being kind enough to answer questions about the new bridge they plan to build for us.
You know I’m a libertarian and I’m instinctively distrustful of government but I thought the hostility towards state DOT officials displayed by some questioners at the Avon meeting a few weeks ago was completely out of line. I’m not sure if I’m going to Thursday’s meeting or not since I’m moving in a couple of months anyway, but if I were to attend I certainly wouldn’t act as if we’re doing them some kind of favor by letting them build a new bridge for us.

Hey, with all this overdevelopment, were gonna need a bigger bridge!
Bridge? We don’t need no stinkin Bridge
What happened in Avon?
We need a new bridge … they should have replaced it years ago when they closed it the first time. Unfortunately the small businesses will be hurt again.
a potential benefit with bridge replacement would be the relocation of the 5th Avenue & Main Street intersection …. restoration of some bridge visibility from 5th Avenue would be nice.
I think I lean towards a renovation of the existing bridge. It’ll be interesting when they finally decide to do work on the RR trestle. I’d say they must do that in the open position. Getting back to the new bridge idea, I’ll probably be dead by the time it’s done.
I’m a dem as you know Dave and I’m happy to pay taxes for the DOT to build me a new bridge;) as long as they don’t pretend we need a 5 story one;)
You just gave me an idea…..
Don’t need all them damn bridges
#9: Now that’s an idea, a solution.
