Approved kitchen plan with access to Taylor “Ballroom” indicates that catering weddings was the plan all along and not just an afterthought.
A bain marie, BTW, is a big table with hot water that you place pans of food in to slow cook or keep warm. I did not know that’s what they are called.
According to Wikipedia, the name: “comes from the medieval-Latin term balneum (or balineum) Mariae—literally, Mary’s bath—from which the French bain de Marie, or bain-marie, is derived. The device’s invention has been popularly attributed to Mary the Jewess, an ancient alchemist. However, the water bath was known many centuries earlier (Hippocrates and Theophrastus)”

Where are all the Matt, Queen of Mean and Kool Aid Crew defenders on this one?
This is what was expected all along. Not even a change order but an original plan. This is criminal and should be reported to the Prosecutors Office. Not the the Belmar PD because Acting chief Huseman will just cover it up.
One really has to wonder why this isn’t being investigated at the county or state level. This is bid rigging and corruption at its finest.I have a funny feeling the people of Belmar are in for a rude awaking once the CFO get a chance to review the books.
I am hoping some brave borough worker(s) has been gathering evidence and is ready to pull a Shawshank Redemption sort of Justice on them. (Need to have seen the movie to understand the context)
Admin. This looks like what Merri Makers submitted. In April 2017. On the bottom it states “architectural plan waived”. It is my understanding 10th ave and any business in town would be required to submit PROFESSIONAL architectual drawings.
#1 AYK….LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP. The stench is becoming more and more nauseating. Corruption at it’s best. I can’t wait for all the heads to roll. DTS…..
WhosE initials are “CG” in red on the Borough of Belmar annotation after Building, date 04/17/17?
Know what this reminds me of? A Chinese Buffet. We could have bid out to many different catering ventures if it wasn’t already a done deal. Actually I think I have a good idea. Contract with a Chinese Buffet place, great music and seating. You could probably decorate too. How ‘s that Millenials?
Is Merry Makers lease available for perusing?
This is all I could find:

#7 CG= Chuck Gimble-building inspector & building subcode official. Just start pecking away and watch everyone cave in. Maybe even Cone Man can figure this one out, ya think? It ain’t that hard to follow the trail.
A Bain Marie could also mean a sandwich prep unit, Like at a sub shop. The bigger situation is that they got approved 4/17 to be open in about 30 days???? You mean they got exhaust fans, plumbing, electric etc.
They had to of started working prior to approvals
How come they didn’t need professional architectural drawings like every other business???
Maybe we should OPRA request if Merri Makers paid the full rent for the last two years and the full security which (I think was one months security)?
Q. How are the utilities metered? Is there separation for catered space, day pass sales and
concession? How is the water metered? Who pays for bathroom water?
A. See Lease Section 20. Utilities. Each Concession space has its own electric meter, gas meter and
water meter. These will be the Concessionaires responsibility. With regard to 5th Avenue Pavilion,
if Concessionaire does not build their own restroom but instead uses the Borough restroom, a prorated
billing based on square footage will be calculated quarterly
Square footage vs #’s booked in that awkward, ugly room? Bathroom next to kitchen water?
#14 Those are excellent questions! Are there separate gas, electric and water meters specifically designated to Merri Makers, or were the residents duped again into paying their utility bills?
I know there’s no water meter at the Marina Grill. It’s free along with sewage.
Report those crooks to SMRSA
This just get sadder everyday, and it only get worse. I hope people realize this is bigger than Matt from the blind town council, town attorney, the Meatball Lady , DJais etc… they should all be held accountable. Don’t want to hear I had no idea etc… save it this is going to cost &$&
#17- Nothing is free. It just means that the taxpayers of Belmar are footing the bill for Chef Internationals ice and toilet flushing. We are making them a mint. You’d think they’d be footing a free buffet for the town taxpayers at the end of the season.
#18. Why would SMRSA care ? They get paid regardless.
How much does Belmar charge Boat owners for water use at the Marina?
Air-Cooled Vs. Water Cooled
Ice Machines or Ice cream machines
While the names of these types of ice machines pretty much speak for themselves there’s quite a bit more that goes into how they work. And while the right choice may seem obvious it is important to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of both before purchasing one. Before you can figure out the type if ice machine that is best suited for your needs you must first take into consideration your finances, your resources and your environment. In order to better help you determine which type of ice machine you want to buy we’ve compiled a list of the pros and cons of having an air-cooled or water-cooled ice machine.
Air-Cooled Ice Machines
This type if ice machine is usually the most popular because it is generally more affordable and easy to install. Air-cooled ice makers take in the air around the machine and uses it to cool the refrigeration system before expelling it back out. But an air-cooled ice machine’s production is dependent on the environment it is in. The machine must have open air flow at the air vents and surrounding temperatures of approximately 70 degrees. And Air-cooled ice maker also produces a lot of extra heat from the used air it discharges, making your air conditioner have to work much harder.
Pros:
Affordable
Easy installation
Low water cost
Cons:
Ice production affected by environment
Less energy efficient
Higher electricity bill
Water-Cooled Ice Machines
While this type of ice maker is generally less popular water-cooled machines are quieter and more energy efficient. And because they rely on water instead of air their production is consistent provided that the water is approximately 50 degrees. This makes them perfect for hot environments and outdoor uses. But a water-cooled ice machine requires over 100 gallons of water for every 100 lbs of ice it produces, and the excess water has to be dumped into a drain. Because of this the cost of having a water-cooled machine high and in many states it is illegal to operate water-cooled equipment without the use of a water tower.
Pros:
Consistent ice production
More energy efficient
Quieter
Cons:
More expensive
Inconvenient installation
Not feasible in many areas
Remote Condenser Unit
A third option for prospective ice machine buyers to consider is a remote condenser unit. Most air-cooled ice makers have a self-contained condenser unit inside the machine but a remote condenser can be placed outside the machine in a different location. This eliminates an air-cooled units’ need for sufficient airflow and space within the room its in by having the air intake occur on the roof or side of the building. This will better maintain your ice production and decrease your energy bill. But the initial costs are much higher because the remote condenser is a separate piece to purchase in addition to the ice machine itself and the installation is more difficult.
Pros:
More consistent ice production
Lowers electricity bill
Cons:
More expensive up front
Difficult installation
FIDUCIARY responsibility!
Last night Saturday night at mid-night huge brawl rolling out of event at Taylor Pavillion. 4 Belmar police cars respond to melee. Your tax dollars at work both inside the facility and outside with the PD to clean up the mess. Such a disgrace.
#25 video to Admin of Belmar police response to follow soon.
Proof is in the pudding. All venues were alcohol and drugs are purchased should be required to ha the Security necessitated by the crowd/cretins, etc. I bet MM gets a big security deposit up front. Who pays for police per event?
#25 & #26 why spread rumors if you do not have facts to back it?
#28 time to eat some crow with video or if you would like some “facts” perhaps Opra the police report from Sat 12/15 – Sun 12/16 very early morning. Looks like OUR taxpayer funded beachfront wedding factory is attracting some quality people with lot’s of class.
The catering hall is an abject dump. Who would want to have an personal party there? The view is the only positive otherwise it’s a run down dump already. Poorly designed, inferior flooring.
I like the 1970s press tile flooring.
The simple truth is that we were ripped off. We were sold a pack of lies and now we’re stuck with the check. The former administration used sentiment, fear tactics, and even tried to force the bond vote by tying it to the much needed out flow pipe in Lake Como. Then they tried to rig the voting process with a misleading ballot statement.
Those of us that publicly protested against the project were ridiculed by the mayor, lied to by the council members, and painted as terrorists and obstructionists by the the administration.
Now there is hard evidence proving what a lot of us already knew. They planned to give control of the pavilion to MM from the start. Corners were cut, and payola was made. I don’t know if what they did can be proven in a court of law to be illegal, but I’m 100% certain it was unethical. What we, the citizens of Belmar, deserve at the very least is a public apology from outgoing mayor McGovern, council person Nickolay, BA Connelly, and soon to be outgoing council person Brennan. Anyone wanna take the over/under on whether or not we get one?
As for Doherty, I’m not gonna hold my breath. He so deep in the political cronyism weeds that public apologies come only AFTER conviction of a crime.
#32 yes, and those post conviction apologies are always so heartfelt and moving
there is a REFUND RESOLUTION on the December 31st M&C Agenda … 10 Taylor Pavilion reservations @ $500 each = $5000.
Who knew reservations were refundable?
34: Bull ticky. Walsifer and McCracken better know how to flesh out this refund before voting.
