Ugh!
Yeah!
Yeah! Brennan is a good man.
#2 AND 3 Both above average dumb statements.
I am so happy that Brennan won the election!
#5 Another above average dumb statement
I thought we all did the research and were voting for Gerry?! I guess we should have voted for the “nice lady” instead of Gerry…
So glad Tom Brennan won!
#8- Really??? You must be the next one up for another 83k do nothing job with the town, or perhaps you live next to the mayor on Ocean Ave. and could care less if you taxes went up another few thousand dollars. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the tracks and can’t. Enjoy the town services I pay for over there.
9-Wrong-Wrong-Wrong-I don’t work for the borough and live in the south section of the borough-no money here. Tom Brennan is good for the town. My opinion. No need for wise cracks and sarcasm. Self_pity is most unbecoming. Boo hoo.
#10 The guy is a below average intelligent person
11-Not so. How you ever spoken with Tom? Listening to his broad knowledge of the environment? His knowledge of government? His musical background?
#12- Sarcastic I hope????
#11 He’s a typical below average politician.
Brennan is the best for Belmar!
# Best for doing what? He is in fact a way below average intelligent person.
16-Brennan brought awareness of environmental protection to Belmar-and has developed many projects along these lines. Also, he has investigated ways of increasing revenue for our community-and ways of cutting spending Over the years Tom has been involved with the arts and tourism councils. He encourages programs for the young and senior residents alike. Tom Brennan has done a great deal for our community .
#17 What the heck are you smoking? It must have way above average potency. The man is just dumb. He’s a has been. Has been doing nothing for Belmar
Gentlemen, The focus shouldn’t just be on one “candidate.” They were/are all unfit, not to mention the two sh*tbirds who ran for POTUS.
——————————————
Remember, Mark Twain’s quote – “If voting mattered, they wouldn’t let us do it.”
—————————————-
DON’T VOTE
#19 Are you recommending getting an above average dictator ?
18-Not so. Read # 17 again. All that is written about Brennan is true. No denying it. I don’t smoke weed. You can thank Tom for the environmental improvements along the beachfront and elsewhere in town.
#21 Yup. It was Tom and Tom alone. Another above average dumb statement
22-Basically yes-Tom initiated the environment projects-DPW staff , of course , assisted. Nothing dumb about it. You are grasping at straws at this point. In the near future I will enumerate the projects spearheaded by Councilman Brennan.
Tom Brennan:
Sponsored the following environmental projects:
Native plants
Dunes at beachfront
Ban on styrofoam
Addresses flooding issues
Harbor projects
Environmental Commission Mber.
Concern for use of plastics
Beach projects and upkeep
#24 All above average BS. Did he save any taxpayer money? Ban on Styrofoam? That’s terrific.
#20 – Well, the Romans were lucky enough to get Augustus Caesar for 35+ years. Don’t you think such a man could help us. But then of course, with our luck, we’d probably start out with a Nero or Caligula.
#24- Wow. You are truly bamboozled. Native plants? Yep, why would anyone want to plant a non-native weed or species? Look up the term native. Makes sense. Duh. Styrofoam and plastics? Try making a car or baby toy without them. Waste of time. Dunes? Oh, so he’s the idiot that spends loads of money pushing sand around in the off season in violation of NJDOP standards. Harbor projects? Yep, I bet he voted for the Marina Grill deal of a life time land/concessions give-away. Why not a town wide effort to stop peeing in the ocean? Does he not buy “made in China” items from a country that is destroying the world with pollutants? If you really want to get a true picture of his motives, go speak with ANY of his former co-workers at BES and see what they all think of him. Gotcha. And as Joe said, what has he done to spend less of our tax money? Did he just waste 83k this year and next year and the year after on a do nothing job?
#24 must be one of the 40% of town voters who want him in office. 60% voted him out.
25-You just won’t accept the fact that Brennan is good for Belmar. Others realize it. That’s why he was re-elected. Residents support him.
26-Yeah for the Romans!
Tom is a fine person. So glad he’ll continue to represent us!
#27 & 28 Wow we have some above average intelligent out there besides me.
#29 Remember more people voted against him than for him. That in itself means he isn’t wanted. So Belmar is stuck with him for a few more below average years.
So glad Tom Brennan was re-elected.
#33 You must be a below average intelligent person. Or maybe you hate the Belmar residents?
I love Belmar residents-and others do too. That’s why we voted for Tom Brennan; a great choice for Our Town!
Tom is not a ‘fine person’. He is often mean and dismissive. He was complicit in the crimes of Doherty admin and now pretends that he was always vigilant against corruption. It’s nonsense and revisionist. He won due to name recognition, the considerable resources of the belmar DNC, and the fact that the rest of the votes were split. If it was a two person race (either just Kinney or just Jerry), Tom would have lost. Pretending Tom cares one wiff about this town is insulting to this town. Tom likes the attention and the tiny spotlight afforded to those that sit upon the Dias. That’s all.
Tom ran because he cares about Belmar. I’ve known him for a very long time-not once have I ever seen Tom display meanness . Residents recognize his dedication to Belmar-that’s why he won.
36-Totally disagree. What an interesting analysis of the election! You really think DNC was involved in a small-town Belmar election? Tom won because residents have faith in his leadership.
#38 Tom won because opposition votes were split. That you fool is an above average answer from just an average joe
It’s from what I hear people say. They voted for Tom because they believe in him.
We’re fortunate to have Tom Brennan continue to represent the people of Belmar.
#40 AND #41 No we aren’t. Did you listen to his above average dumb statements the other night.?
#37 he is mean. He’s an angry man who has learned to plaster on a fake smile to get votes and fool people. I’ve also known him for a very long time. I’ve seen the way he treats people. Plus he’s an intellectual lightweight.
#38 it’s an accurate analysis of the election. And I’m certain you don’t really think I meant the National Democratic Committee, right? I’m talking the Belmar dem machine. Funded in part by Maggie Moran. And please don’t tell me they have nothing to do with organizing and funding Tom’s campaign. That would be insulting to both of us. Tom won because the republicans essentially ran two separate candidates and he still barely eked out a win. It’s like the last election when he literally won by two votes to a guy no one knows.
Tom is not a mean person. A good guy, and a town leader. No Dem machine in Belmar -just politics as usual.
#44 sorry my friend. Maggie and Matt fund the belmar Democrats. It is a disproportionate political machine for this small town. If you are unaware of that fact, then you haven’t lived here very long.
As for Tom being a good guy? You are entitled to your opinion and I to mine. He’s was a tyrant in the classroom and he’s just an empty, well not suit because he only wears black clothes for some reason but you get the idea, on the council. That’s my opinion and it’s based on years of seeing him in action.
43-Your information is way off.
#46 well if your talking about what my opinion is about Tom. I’ll repeat, it’s my opinion. I’ve known him for over a decade. The guys is arrogant and ignorant. Bad combo.
If you’re talking about the fact that the belmar dems are heavily funded by the Maggie Moran political machine then I don’t know what to tell you. It isn’t ‘information’, it’s a fact.
So one is an opinion and the other is a fact. Not sure what you mean by information being way off. Maybe read? Or live in town for more than 10 minutes? Or spend 5 minutes w Brennan? You’ll figure it out.
There is no connection with Matt Doherty’s wife . She hasn’t been involved. That is a FACT.
What’s all the arguing about? Sure the guy’s a p*ssant. But he’s going to sit up there with all the other misfits anyway – faughettaboudit.
#48 wow ok. Well… Welcome to Belmar! Thank you for coming to town. Please enjoy the beautiful beach and take a walk along the promenade at the marina. We have some fine restaurants, terrific diners, and of course our famous bars. While you’re settling in, take a moment and maybe read a newspaper or glance at some of the many public documents that have been published on this very blog. It lays out pretty clearly what Matt and Maggie have done to this little town. Enjoy! And again, thank you for making Belmar your new home.
50-I’m Not a new resident. I’ve lived here for 60 plus years. The Doherty’s are no longer involved in town business, or town politics. I’m on the inside. You are assuming-and you know what it’s said about the word assume. The Doherty family is undergoing change. Politics is not a priority for them. In fact, I was involved with the Democrats when Doherty was Mayor. There was never any interference from Maggie-in fact, she was questioned about her lack of involvement by the media. She never came to any Democrats meetings, never sent any ideas. She was heavily involved with New York and New Jersey campaigns on a scale much grander than Belmar. You sound like an authority about Belmar politics. But you are grossly misinformed. And Maggie wasn’t working behind the scenes. I was there-you weren’t.
50-Your sarcastic tone leaves much to be desired. It’s neither clever or humorous. In fact it’s dull and boring.
50-Lots Of guesswork, assumptions, and inaccuracies with your comments.
50-Please specify your claims . Belmar couldn’t be better. I’ve lived here a long time also. Both the former and present administrations have done fine jobs in town government. I’m not here 60 years as the previous commenter, but living here long enough. “What they did to this town? “. High drama.
No one was kinder to the handicapped groups than Mayor Doherty. He supported the various activities of these organizations, and allowed the young people to utilize our various facilities at no cost, for dances and get-togethers. He often stopped by to say Hi, which was much appreciated by put handicapped individuals and their families.
During and after Hurricane Sandy, Mayor Doherty never went home for over two weeks. He lived and slept at borough hall-always available to residents who were in need of assistance. He helped residents by cleaning up their properties, and found shelter for those who were displaced. You might say, well-he was Mayor-that was his job. But other town officials in the vicinity were at a loss, and asked for his guidance. Mayor Doherty did everything in his power to bring Belmar back during that challenging time. Our beachfront was the only one open that summer-right after Sandy. He also made sure our senior residents were OK-checking on them constantly. That’s his legacy . That’s what he “left the town with.” As a senior(aged) resident, I was most grateful for his actions and dedication during and after Hurricane Sandy. He made sure his staff and police were in call during that timeframe.
You have o idea what you’re talking about, 50.
I’m going to assume (yes, that word) that 51-57 are all the same person. Only because there is no possible way that many people are ALL suffering from the same delusion. However, I will address each.
#51- your reading comprehension needs some work. Maggie’s money and connections are involved with belmar politics. I never said she ‘interfered’ or that she went to the meetings. She herself was/is very cautious about public perception. She is a master at it. It’s how she makes her money. You know that. The belmar dems, when Matt was our mad king, were heavily funded by the Maggie machine. Now that Matt has a crony job in AC, and the Dohertys no longer need this town, perhaps the money and power have diminished, but it’s still there. Don’t be so naive.
#52- Oh come on, it’s a little clever.
#53- my comments are based on mews reports and OPRA’d documents from this blog. They are facts. I’m sorry it bothers you, but facts are facts.
#54- where to begin? Matt Doherty used this town as an ATM. It was a means to a political end. He put our little burg into massive debt and consolidated power to suit his self interests. He lied numerous times to the public and lost just about every law suit. He used beach funds for town related expenses (illegal) and he cut deals with developers that robbed the school of desperately needed funds so that he could have a catchy campaign slogan. Remember? No increase in municipal taxes! It was all smoke and mirrors and we have since had to pay the bill. You don’t recall any of this? Then you weren’t here.
#55- first of all, the word is ‘disabled’ now. Handicapped is a derogatory term that comes from the fourteenth century. It refers to the poor disabled folks with their cap in hand begging for money. Just want to bring you into the 21st century. Anyway, Matt Doherty didn’t go to the bathroom without a press conference. Everything that man did, everything, was to further his political career. Sorry.
#56- This one is the craziest. Matt used Sandy as a money grab. Full stop. The shenanigans that his administration pulled after that terrible storm are still being felt. I spoke to the Mayors of Manasquan and Avon after Sandy. They were shocked at what Matt was up to. No one reached out to him for guidance. They used him as a template of what not to do. The list is too long for this forum but for a taste:
The company that Maggie consulted for was hired by her husband to clean up the town after sandy. That company was hired after the original company hired to clean up after sandy was fired. You don’t need to be a political wonk to know that what Matt did by funneling tax dollars to his wife is wrong. Not iffy, not open to interpretation, WRONG. Then we have the Taylor pavilion. Perhaps the most egregious scam ever perpetrated on the public. First, it cost over 4 million dollars when it should have cost 2. Matt lied repeatedly that FEMA would pay for it. They didn’t. He tried to tie the referendum to fund that vanity project to a much needed outflow pipe in Lake Como that already had public funding. I could co on and on but what’s the point? Matt is a liar and an Machiavellian politician. He nearly bankrupted this town and uses his wife’s influence to climb the political ladder.
You’re right about one thing though. In regards to you saying he helped so much during sandy, I am gonna say, ‘it was his job’. But I mean that literally. Unlike the mayors of all the surrounding towns, he didn’t HAVE another job. Being mayor was it. But when he DID get a job? He quit being mayor. He didn’t finish his term, he didn’t work to finish the crap he started. He quit. That’s your guy. That’s his legacy. He’s a horrible person and a self serving egotist. I know it’s a tough pill to swallow but what are ya gonna do?
#57 I don’t have an idea of what I’m talking about? Boy you really cut me to the quick there.
It’s astounding that this all needs to be explained yet again. Memories are short in this town.
#58 Right on! Ms. Moran was out there on her phone making deals while the dear husband was playing the saint role. You left out the Shoprite gift card mystery and the use of donations for a secret list of people in town.
Disagree on all of your comments, 58. Your assumptions are wrong. He helped individuals with special needs. Exaggerations and assumptions galore on your part.
http://blog.commonsenseforbelmar.org/court-order-to-pay-broadco/
#60 I know it is hard to imagine. I get it. I was actually once friends w the guy. But all of what I said is true. I’m sorry.
59-The Shoprite fiasco was perpetrated by someone at borough hall-not the mayor. He learned about it after the fact. And, a fact is other local officials were reaching out to Mayor Doherty about how to solve issues surrounding Hurricane Sandy. How do I know this? I was a volunteer-helping to field phone calls received at borough hall during and after Sandy.
The Brightest Eyes of Belmar knew what the McDirty Cabal did to Belmar. His behind the scene manipulation of those poor democrat candidates yelling every opportunity only make them reek of his continued judgment. Maggie will eventually kick him to the curb.
63: ask me no question I tell you now lies said the captain of the ship.
58-Thanks for the vocabulary lesson. . If the word “handicapped” is so outdated, why do states still use this word for their auto placards? Some states have the word right on the placard, and other states use it as a point of reference for obtaining such a placard. Your Information is flawed. By the way, there are no images of “handicapped”
people with hats in hand begging for money on these placards . The word “handicapped” is Not such a derogatory word after all.
#58 A way above summation of the BS during the prior administration.
#58 – Does that mean the word, [cripple] is out as well?
58-Thanks for the history lesson. I love 14th century stuff! I don’t want to move into the 21st century. Think I’ll investigate what people wore back then. Let’s all get back to the 14th century!
#69 You are an above average idiot
58-How negative can you get? A disgruntled resident doesn’t come up for air.
ANON keyboard warriors.
70-A sense of humor is a great asset. Get happy! I think that post is funny.
70-At least I’m an above average something!
Glad Brennan will be back in office.
#74 #75 Go into hiding.
76-Am I annoying you by any chance?
#66- All words have origins. My information is factual. And perhaps YOU call the parking spots handicapped spots and YOU call the placards handicapped placards, but the DMV calls them “wheelchair symbol plates” and “persons with disability cards”. So your the one who is flawed. And your logic is a little nonsensical anyway. The UNCF is still called The United Negro College Fund. How about you go try that word out on the next African American you see. Good luck with that. Haha. It is a derogatory word and I know change is difficult, but you can do it.
#69- I can’t tell if that’s sarcasm or not. If it is, it needs work. The derivation of our language is endlessly fascinating. As is the study of history.
#68- It’s not ‘out’. You can use it still but it of course, but is considered offensive.
# 77 Nope!!!I deal with people like you all day.
78–Huffy response….some US states still use the word “handicapped.” Love that you know how to spell YOU… and capitalize it. What? Reference to the UNCF? Where’s that coming from? Left field, I’d say. Calm your jets. Over reacting clouds your thought process.
#80 There’s an awful lot of “…” in that post. Please calm down, you can keep using your word. I mean it’s only offensive to disabled people anyway.
The UNCF reference was a direct response (as opposed to left field)to show you how ridiculous your argument is. You know the one about the state still using the word handicapped must mean that it’s not offensive. UNCF still use the word negro. By your logic, that must mean it’s not offensive. I honestly thought it was pretty clear, but it appears to have gone right over your head. Careful, being obtuse seems to cloud your comprehension.
watta bunche of sissys arguing about wurds lik’a bunch of femail women’s yakking ovur the back fense.
81-Thanks for doing my thinking for me. You know-logic and all that. So far out. Big holes in your argument. Logical thinking has passed you by.
#83- Oh thank you. Please point out the ‘holes’ in my argument.
Handicapped, for years now, is considered a term that is no longer acceptable. You don’t have to take my word for it. Please visit http://WWW.ADA.gov
I was just pointing that out you. You seem to have a hard time accepting it and an even harder time admitting when your wrong. You are what we now refer to as ‘factually challenged’. It is a bit of an epidemic these days.
#82 Boy is that the pot calling the kettle black. All you do is argue about words
Handicapped-The word is still used/accepted in many places across the country. Fact.
Golf courses for example
86-Good one, Dave !
#86. That was a good one. #87 go to the ADA website? No? Don’t blame you.
I agree. Some places use the word handicapped to describe people with physical issues.
How bout NAACP? Anyone out there care to say what the C stands for? I’m afraid to say it as I may get robbed or beaten.
My brother, who sustained catastrophic injuries in Vietnam, was a proponent of the term “Handicapible”. We know why he chose the positive spin to help his community and ours.
