Oops sorry – ok I think I get it….Dasti is an attorney who is representing the company who’s dealing with the Lake Como stormwater management? And Dobco lawyers contactd Dasti’s client – but who exactly did they contact? And about what? Thanks.
Despite the new rule and signage along the boardwalk, locals and out of towners alike continue to use Belmar’s once clean and beautiful beach as their dog’s own personal litter box. Every day this week I’ve seen people blatantly disregard the new rule of no dogs on the beach. What does that result in? Dog shit on the beach. Dog shit in plastic bags on the beach. Dog shit in plastic bags hanging from dune fencing on the beach. Absolutely disgusting. A public heath concern. An environmental concern. I have to say my out look on dog owners has completely changed, and I have one! What a disgrace.
#8- It’s called lack of enforcement. Call the
municipal court clerk and ask them how many summons have been issued over the past month or so. You will be shocked.
8 – That is because like most Belmar ordinances or edicts, they go unenforced. Memorial Day Weekend will be a nightmare in Belmar when this mayor and council allows summer rentals to be occupied. Get ready folks.
It would take less effort to throw dog waste in a can if there were some, although that is not an excuse and should not be done. I noticed a can that washed up and by the end of the winter it was filled with garbage, including the balloons and plastic that I, a dog owner pick up. I thought maybe a garbage can or two may be good thing.
Unfortunately we have always been the litter box for dogs on the beach and boardwalk. Before and after our new boardwalk residents have complained about people leaving dog shit for others to step in. I agree it is a health hazard and they should receive a ticket. Now you will say, do we really want police officers to spend time issuing a ticket for dog feces for those who do not comply. Yes, if fishermen can be watched for keeping a fish that’s too small and ticketed by the state then call the state and have them watch the dog shitters if we can’t do it ourselves. The first hundred tickets should cure them for having bad behavior. People are gross, they throw their bagged dog shit under our shrubs.I have nice piles that I have to clean up and I don’t own a dog. Absolutely disgusting.Sorry for the rant, just fed up with stupidity.
Some of u numb nuts really amaze me – you really have too much time on your hands- you complain about dogs on the beach – I agree this year Summer Rentals should be limited to family’s not groups or just be limited to Year Round usage – the Governor is allowing the Mayors to make decisions regarding them – BTW it will not matter if Gov. Murphy opens all the Bars – and D Jais- BA- Marina Grill can open and pack them in as usual – who’s gonna police social distancing in the lines and inside the bars –
I feel sorry for anyone who will never know the joy of unconditional love given by man’s best friend.
The happiness and excitement of a dog when he/she hits the beach is amazing.
Just pick up after them, which the vast majority do.
#18- No. How about holding those people in charge of enforcing laws on the books responsible. This whole administration is a money wasting failure. And I’m probably correct in saying you don’t pay property taxes nor care about where your last %10 tax increase is going or where the next, yes, next %10 tax increase will go. Total failure.
#16 Hopefully the new chief will get it right and have summonses issued, not warnings, to those in violation. Everyone should know by now and not play stupid. Read the signs.
I have no problem with dogs being on the beach in winter months. As a dog owner myself I’d just expect others to pick up after the dog and keep it on leash. Anything else is lazy and disrespectful to others
Goose poo does not stink and smear like dog poo, and can easily be rinsed off. I haven’t walked on the grassy areas around our beautiful lakes for years.
Saw people walking straight past “No Dogs on Beach” signs today on the boardwalk and straight onto the beach with their dogs and immediately let them off leash, as Belmar PD drove by and did nothing….Whats the point of having rules if they won’t be enforced?
Those cops are properly using officer discretion. The meaning of the rule was to keep hordes of out of towners from from infecting the local population. If they see a person enjoying an empty beach with there dog they won’t hassle them to appease some pain in the a$$e$ with nothing better to do.

#8 Obviously our new police chief hasn’t directed her officers to do their job and enforce the mayors directive. Maybe they made a bad choice.

Thats some enforcement. Point handed out 40 tickets in a week to dog owners back in Feb. Im sure that helped the issue.

Someone needs a hobby. How about chasing the geese away from the lake which shit more than a hundred dogs.

23, those cops are making above six figure salaries. They’re not getting out of the car for a dog.
